So basically a long time ago the Ottomans smashed the thick walls of Constantinople, captured the city and beheaded the king. It changed the world a lot because the Ottomans are now controlling a lot of Southeastern Europe meaning European kingdoms need to find new paths for Afro Eurasian trading routes which made people from the Iberian peninsula start going places. So in the around the year 1,500 Portugal was poor and Africa was rich in people and gold so naturally Portuguese people go to Afrika to try get some money. And it worked pretty well, many Portuguese men married into rich African families. And from the Africans' perspective marrying into Portuguese families would open up more trading routes and more things to trade.
