         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello and welcome to the course. I am David Lawrence, I am a HIV/Sexual Health Speciality Trainee doctor from the UK who has been living in Botswana for three and a half years overseeing an RCT of a new treatment approach for HIV-associated cryptococcal meningitis. My work also takes me to South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Uganda. I am also involved in numerous qualitative studies related to advanced HIV disease and the bioethics of global health research. I look forward to working with you all this year.<br><br>This is a nice photo of the Boteti River in Botswana that recently started flowing for the first time in two years.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi everyone,<br><br>My name is Rashida and I am a tutor on this module. I am an HIV physician and an epidemiologist and I am a professor at LSHTM but I live in Zimbabwe where I run a research programme focusing on HIV infection in young people. I work on strategies to improve uptake of HIV testing, retention in care and virological outcomes, as well as on longterm clinical complications  of HIV in children growing up with perinatally-acquired HIV (lung , heart, musculoskeletal disease). <br><br>I am particularly interested in integrated community-based approaches for delivering, HIV, SRH and general health services to youth. <br><br>I do also work in other parts of sub-Saharan Africa. In 2019 (and then subsequently), I worked on an extensive outbreak of paediatric HIV in Pakistan-which has a very different epidemic from that in Africa<br><br>I enjoy hiking and try and do an annual trip to the Himalayas in Pakistan (which is where I am originally from). Below is a view on my my recent jaunt in northern Pakistan.<br><br>I look forward to getting to know you.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>My name is Ankur, and I'm one of the module tutors. I'm an infectious diseases physician, and a clinical lecturer at UCL/LSHTM. My HIV experience comes through clinical work and research in sub-Saharan Africa, including Malawi, South Africa and Uganda. My research interest is HIV-associated TB, including improving outcomes in hospitalised patients, and using diagnostics to improve health outcomes.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I'm Vicky the module organiser for this module. I'm a consultant in infectious diseases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London and an Associate Prof at LSHTM.&nbsp; I've worked in the HIV field (clinical, programme and research) in UK, Australia, Myanmar and South Africa. &nbsp;<br>I'm very excited that the module this year as we've managed to move all the course material onto moodle. I'd love to hear what you think of it. And do feedback if there are any errors or links which don't work, that I may not have picked up on.
