         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>VARK Type 1:</strong><br>There are those who are flexible in their communication preferences and who switch from mode to mode depending on what they are working with. They are context specific. They choose a single mode to suit the occasion or situation. If they have to deal with legalities they will apply their Read/write preference. If they are to watch the demonstration of a technique they will be expressing their Kinesthetic preference.<br><br><strong>VARK Type 2:<br></strong>There are others who are not satisfied until they have had input (or output) in all of their preferred modes. They take longer to gather information from each mode and, as a result, they often have a deeper and broader understanding. They may be seen as procrastinators or slow-deliverers but some may be merely gathering all the information before acting – and their decision making and learning may be better because of that breadth of understanding.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My Score for VARK was:</div><ul><li>Visual 6</li><li>Aural/Auditory 5</li><li>Read/Write 12</li><li>Kinesthetic 7</li></ul><div>It was no surprise to me because I love reading and find myself most engaged in class through books, academic papers, and articles.<br><br>For those with this modality, I think the tip that I would give would be: Find a quieter space to review what has been handed out by the teacher. Highlight important information in the article to find easily in the future, and make notes in the margins to help filter understanding after reading materials to link other ideas from other readings.<br><br>I have added a link to a Youtube video for some study tips for improving reading comprehension :)&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

For example, I've often had a ball of playdough in my hand during a lecture or other times I'll stand at the back of the room.          <description><![CDATA[<div>My VARK score is:<br>- Visual: 4<br>-Aural: 12<br>-Read/Write: 5<br>-Kinesthetic: 14<br><br>This score fascinates me because the more I read about it, the more I am convinced it is quite accurate- however I didn't expect it! As a law student and writer I definitely expected to be a read/write learner, but taking a step back I see that, for me to actually grasp and understand written concepts, I am constantly checking them against real-world examples and experiences in my mind. I often skip straight to a case study/example in a textbook before reading through a chapter. A map means absolutely nothing to me if I haven't been to any of the places on the map! (or if siri isn't talking to me... which leads me to my next point) As an aural learner I find it incredibly helpful to discuss concepts with people-even if they don't have the answers, things begin to make sense to me when I talk about them.<br><br>One tip for teaching students with the aural-learning modality would be providing opportunities for group discussion and question time. Record the lecture, be articulate in your audio presentation of the content as much as you care about your PP presentation :)&nbsp; Case studies, case studies and more case studies/examples are also the best for K learners. Goingthrough school it was difficult for me to feel like I grasped my teachers’ lessonsand always felt a little slow. My teachers would see my frustrations and try tofigure out what my learning style was, but it would be a hit or miss. Now, thatI have taken this test it just encourages me to know that I learn in different ways,and it also makes me appreciate my teachers who didn’t just let me slip throughthe cracks. The VARK test helped me understand myself better, as well as,keeping an eye out for my students who seem like they are “behind” the rest ofthe class. Tips I would give to teachers with Multimodal students wouldbe to be creative, patient, and ask questions. I would say that many students donot know how they learn and as a teacher you can create different lessons foryour students to see how they learn best. Asking questions during and after classabout the lesson can allow students to share what worked and didn’t work. By askingquestions and being creative with lessons, I believe students will feel seenand encouraged by their teachers. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My Vark results were<br>&nbsp;Visual: 5<br>Aural: 10<br>Read/Write: 6<br>Kinesthetic: 15<br><br>I was a bit surprised by my scores actually because I had assumed Visual would be my second highest score (I knew I would score the highest for Kinesthetic). It always helps me to see things instead of someone just describing something, unless they are very elaborate in their description and I can visualize and imagine myself physically there (if given directions for example).&nbsp;<br><br>In High School, I learned American Sign Language for a year and it came very natural to me as&nbsp; the application was movement and in a sense "performing" the language instead of only speaking it.&nbsp;<br><br>I think incorporating movements, like hand gestures or even walking or stretching while trying to learning something is very helpful as my brain makes connections that way. I would want to incorporate movement in my classes as much as possible while still using visual and auditory devises as well.&nbsp;<br><br>A simple example: Have students act our new action word vocabulary.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Lately I've been doing a lot of read/write... But I'm not good with only watching at things as the chart perfectly describes... In another words I only watch maybe one movie a year...<br><br>A tip for this type of learner would be to have a lot of audiobooks, and go for walking or cycling and then have a podcast application to repeat what you have learned...<br><br>When you are in a classroom... Don't be afraid to ask questions, or repeat to the teacher what you think you've learned.<br><br>You can use Audible for audiobooks, and Anchor for podcasts!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Visual: 9<br>Aural: 11<br>Read/Write: 8<br>Kinesthetic: 16<br><br>The website said I am a mild Kinesthetic ;-)<br>I also personally think I learn well through Flow charts, spider diagram, both visually when I am taught and I, myself, draw them out when I learnt or teach.&nbsp;<br><br>For Kinesthetic itself, a skit/ a setting is always great, depending on a theme being taught;&nbsp;<br>if the lesson of the day is about ordering food in restaurant setting up a scene where students can play roles or taking orders and ordering different food in the language or vocab that are presented/taught to them at the earlier part of the class.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>(I am commenting here as there's no one in this category yet, and I believe I learnt well visually to some extent until where the diagrams or maps I see get too complicated LOL.)<br><br>I appreciate when the teacher explain the content in the way they are break down into different ideas and visual signs and arrows to clarify.<br><br>I, myself, would do them as I study for myself, esp.with chunky passage; taking out the main idea and seeing how they connect to the rest of the content or how it's flow into other ideas, help me remember the content. I did those for some of my teaching as well, like with spider diagram, I would present the topic/Main idea of the content and then have different parts of contents/idea connected to as the legs and show how they support the titile or main idea. etc</div>]]></description>

I believe I'm a VARK type 1, I can learn very well through reading/writing and visual as well. It really surprised me how high of a kinesthetic I am. I just came to the realisation I use a lot of kinesthetic techniques on my teachings, I just had no clue I probably used those because it is one of the ways my brain learns. But I can totally learn with only reading, only visual explanations, or only the kinesthetic way. Just have incredible difficulties in learning only the aural way, I simply can't pay attention, especially when speaking in a second language (English or Khmer).&nbsp;<br><br>I have a question. Does any of you also have difficulty in learning something when you learn in your second language? Or is it only me? </div>]]></description>

But I also lean heavily toward auditory learning. I think I perform my best when I put the two together by asking questions and having group discussions after/during a demonstration. <br><br>For those who are also Type 1 in the Multi-modal, I would say to experiment a little bit in order to keep things interesting and find your comfort spot. Find a quiet (or chaotic if you’re accustomed to studying in loud places) place to think and keep an open mind. Honing in on one modality might not be enough, so be open to using two or even three in order to find which preference best helps you absorb that specific material. It’s okay to combine more than one!<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

As much as possible, let the students choose from a variety of assignments what is the best way for them to give you feedback from what they have learnt.&nbsp;<br><br>I like this video's&nbsp; tips on brain based learning, it shows good strategies that are perfectly applicable for multi-modal learning students.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

I'm not a podcast person who someone who can listen to a whole concert when there is no text in front of me at all, so I guess that is where the read-write side and kinesthetic side come in haha :)&nbsp;<br><br>My advice for multimodal learners would be to create tasks where the student *teaches* Here, they must understand the content enough, but have freedom to explore the modes of communication and learning that work best for them. I have always enjoyed sign, dance, and movement - during the day I prefer to be on my feet walking around over sitting. However, I tend to prefer the sharing of experiences of myself and others over experimenting with objects and projects. It's interesting to me that experiences are high in priority for the Kinesthetic person because going through an experience together (like a class group) and sharing experiences to help understand each other are what I find very valuable.<br><br>I believe it's helpful for those with this modality, especially with an emphasis on experiences, to find others who can value shared stories with them and also to view shared experiences as learning opportunities, whether they turn out as planned or not.&nbsp;<br><br>As a teacher I hope to make time for two things for the kinesthetic learners<br>1) sharing experiences, both verbally through storytelling and to have new experiences with each other in class<br>2) incorporate movement into the schedule, especially at the beginning, during transitions, and at the end of each day, whether distance learning or learning in person&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Visual: 6<br>Aural: 6<br>Read/write: 7<br>Kinesthetic:&nbsp; 12<br>I am not surprised that I learn best from seeing and doing something.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;This is especially important if I have to do an ACTION activity.&nbsp; &nbsp; Some of my favorite classes with nursing students was giving them creative simulated activities, role plays and sharing examples of real-life experiences to be prepared to know what to do when doing the "real" thing. &nbsp; However, I think my kinesthetic learning mode also combines with my read/write mode since I have no problem simply reading and studying by myself for long periods of time. &nbsp; Because VARK strongly scored me as kinesthetic, here are tips for teaching this type of learner.&nbsp;<br><br>I would want to use some of the following tips to be able to help kinesthetic learners with emphasis on thinking of ways to give them a chance to DO the activity so that they can experience it for themselves.&nbsp; Also giving variety to topics or activities, even after a break, will allow their minds to keep stimulated and help them to have fun learning.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

For me once I have had the process time then&nbsp; I need&nbsp; to verbally process.<br>The negative voice that many multimodal learners need to ignore is' you're not on the same page as everyone else'. We&nbsp; need to be ok with that.. Often multimodal learners are seeing pieces to the skill or problem that will help others. It can be easy to give up but persevering brings success.<br>It is important to note that even after we have assured that our students know and use their learning style progress is not a given.  Each student needs to have time to study, use materials from class, and be motivated to learn for progress to happen.</div>]]></description>

I think that considering a "visual" learner without considering photos and videos to be part of a visual profile doesn't really seem to make a lot of sense to me. I think that I am primarily a visual learner, who learns best from photos and videos that are paired with explanations and written text. I do like to move around when I study. One example is doing memory games with Chinese flashcards while sitting on the floor, playing against myself. Here is a link with information from Dr. Erica Warren, she specializes in a multi-sensory approach. After understanding this, my previous learning experience made a LOT more sense!<br><br>I am a super slow reader in my native language and learning a second language I just find it so challenging to learn to read and write because I can't hear it. I speak very well a second or third language even because I have to practice and use it! This makes so much more sense now! </div><div><br>My tip: take advantage of this skill as it is helpful for learning how to practically use language. Stretch yourself and be brave to practice verbally, immerse yourself in the language. You might surprise yourself how much you learn this way! Set up coffee dates with native speakers and enjoy stumbling through what you know and asking questions! <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My preferred learning style was multimodal which surprised me a little bit. I always have assumed that I was a solid Kinaesthetic learner. But after taking the test and reading some of the examples I feel I understand so much more about why I always thought I was such a slow learner! Turns out I need to interact with a topic in many ways before I have complete understanding. <br><br>My results were <br>Visual <strong>9</strong><br>Aural <strong>11</strong><br>Read/Write<strong> 1</strong><br>Kinaesthetic <strong>12<br><br></strong>After reading a bit about multimodal learners, a few tips that stood out to me were,&nbsp;<br>1- Just because one thing worked one time doesn't mean it will work again! Multimodal learners may need to interact with new material in different ways depending on what that material is. There's no cookie cutter students which means that theres no cookie cutter teacher style either. So it's important to incorporate all 4 styles within one lesson.&nbsp;<br>2- A higher number of students will be multimodal learners, so if you recognise that your lesson is predominately power point or visual aids, think about how you can add all modes of learning within that presentation platform.&nbsp;<br><br>This was a fun quick video that highlighted how to cohesively mesh the styles of learning within a presentation without making it too hectic or more difficult to understand. I loved their stop sign example! A symbol we would all recognise even if certain elements of it were missing ie- colour, different language, lighting.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My score is:<br>Visual 2<br>Aural 6<br>Read/Write 6<br>Kinesthetic 11<br><br>I often find myself struggling to remember things that I read, listened to, or was tested on in school because nothing ever felt 'real.' I find that the best method for me to learn is to connect things with reality. So, if I am learning about something that feels hard to connect with reality (like history) I write out timelines and "mind maps" for things to help connect them with the world as I know it. A mind map starts with one word/phrase/idea in the middle of the paper and ends with many arrows that connect it to other ideas/things. Making these has helped my learning/processing immensely and I totally recommend them for any student/teacher, they are super easy and helpful!</div>]]></description>

It explains so much about the way I learn, study and teach.<br><br>A tip I would give to kinesthetic learners is to just do it. When you receive any information, find someone to practice with as soon as possible. Do not hesitate, just try and learn form trial and error.<br><br>When teaching, let students be the 'teachers' by having them act as the teacher, they will gain the experience of doing, and the information is more likely to stick.<br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

I recommend that these learners use all the tips from each category to be able to learn best. An example of my learning yesterday using these strategies:<br><br>I was learning how to make empanadas, and I watched my friend make one, then I asked questions and he described the actions he was doing, then I tried myself, demonstrating my work to him and asking him to guide my clumsy fingers to crimp the edges like he did. I used visual, aural and kinesthetic strategies in order to learn a new skill.&nbsp;<br><br>Its important to ask questions, discuss your understanding, watch tutorials, and get kinesthetically involved in learning. Whatever works best for you, there are loads of strategies for this learner. <br><br></div>]]></description>

I found both of the strategies helpful. I know that that's somewhat more multi-modal in theory, but it's not accurate considering my read/write and visual.<br><br>The two strategies I found for kinesthetic learning most helpful are learning by trial and error and using your hands when learning. For Aural I found that having conversations with myself and explaining my thoughts to others helps me remember most.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

I was expecting my Read/Write score to be higher than my Kinesthetic score. But it wasn’t a complete shock either, when it comes to learning something new – if I have a choice between reading about something or watching it, I’ll choose the video almost every time.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>My main tip for Kinesthetic learners would be to incorporate review games into your study routine. For me personally, it makes studying a lot less boring and more engaging. One of my favorite websites to use for this kind of studying is Quizlet which self-generates tests, flashcards, and games based off of the material your trying to learn. However, if Quizlet isn’t your thing, the attached link provides some other options for online review games :) </div>]]></description>

For me, I definitely lean towards Kinesthetic but also rely heavily on Visual. Oftentimes, these are used in conjunction to gain a better picture of what is being communicated or learned. I know that I like ot be efficient and try to listen to podcasts and such but also realize that I will gain only bits and pieces from only listening and this must be accompanied by taking notes(which I am not strong in either:) or some type of visual component. I really appreciate when we pick up where my knowledge ends, rather than starting from the beginning and then I begin to lose interest.&nbsp;<br><br>In my research, I am seeing that a huge part of being a kinesthetic learner is that the people in this category are creative. I think that is part of why it is so hard for me to really dive into information that I already know, my brain doesn't have anywhere new to go. I enjoy reading deeply but to understand a scientific text I always have to map it out and draw connections. Reading or hearing "stories", how English evolved for example, has always been easy for me to remember. Just hearing how something works or reading about it won't help me half as much, as trying it and struggeling through it once or twice. I try to get an idea what to do through reading or listening and then practise, practise, practise.&nbsp;<br>This test will help me so much for future learning and understanding myself better.<br><br>Study tips:<br>Numbers and long papers of words, turn them into graphs, connections relationships that makes sense.&nbsp;<br>As much as possbile be hands on in your learning. Take the time to think of possible real scenarios for examples. Turn it into a story or connect it to a personal memory. Make it real as best as you can.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

I didn't realize how low I was in visual.&nbsp; I always thought I was a mix of kinesthetic and visual, but turns out watching videos to learn is more kinesthetic.&nbsp;<br><br>My scores -&nbsp;<br>Kinesthetic - 16<br>Aural - 9<br>Read/Write - 8<br>Visual - 1<br><br>My tip for those learners/teachers who are kinesthetic would be to add drama/skits into your learning/teaching practice.  I feel it brings so much fun to the classroom and connects the class content to movements and/or real life situations, making it easier to remember.  In an English class learning food, ordering, etc., it would be fun to set up a fake restaurant and practice ordering. Practice, practice, practice! I hadn't analyzed mine before. And I consider myself very analytical! I definitely prefer to have real word examples and hands on practical methods if possible. Love paper copies vs online. I like to use colored markers and highlight text. Diagrams, charts, and maps are awesome!<br><br>Tip for Bible reading/study: I underline things that stand out in the Bible as I'm reading. I will sometimes write the verses that really speak to me in a journal. If I want to memorize them I put them on a colored index card. I have also been known to make a PowerPoint with an image overlaid with a scripture. And of course lists of scriptures on a specific topic of interest in a Word Document to print out and keep handy for review.<br><br>Attached video gives study tips for Kinesthetic learners.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

We mostly have IKEA furniture so the wordless instructions drive me bonkers. Youtube is my go to. Always. It explains how to put the pieces together AND shows you.&nbsp;<br><br>However, when it comes to a traditional school setting which involves studying, reading and lectures, I've had to adapt and take on the other forms of learning.&nbsp;<br><br>Some tips for the kinesthetic learners when having to learn in a non kinesthetic setting:&nbsp;<br><br>. Use your hands when sitting in on lectures or discussions. Take notes or doodle. Anything to keep your hands busy.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>. Do something practical when listening to Podcasts, recorded lectures, or audiobooks. I've learned that I can retain information easier if I can listen while cleaning, cooking, laundry etc. It's not always possible to have recordings but when they are available, it's so helpful.&nbsp;<br><br>. Take breaks<br><br>. Try to take what you are learning and put it to a real life situation. When it comes to language - practice ordering a drink at a coffee shop in the countries native language. Small things like this really help retain information.&nbsp;<br><br>The video I posted is hilarious but also so genius! I wish my math class provided kinesthetic machinery!!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My VARK scores were:<br>- kinesthetic: 12<br>- read/write: 11<br>- aural: 11<br>- visual: 6<br>I was surprised by these results because I have described myself as a visual learner in the past, which is actually my lowest VARK score. I now realize, based off of the VARK descriptions, that what I called visual learning is actually reading/writing. I love organizing things into categories and rewriting notes has been helpful for me as a study tool in the past. <br>It makes sense that I am a multi-modal learner because I also love real-world examples and learn best when I see how concepts are related to one another or play out in real life. I have more recently recognized how helpful it is for me to talk through the things I am learning with someone else, which is an auditory strategy. <br>Language learning in Indonesia was very engaging for me because I could write out the words, practice pronouncing them, and then use the words to communicate with locals. <br>My tip for multi-modal learners would be to try having a piece of paper out to jot down thoughts when you are processing something out loud with another person. Going back to notes and identifying themes/patterns can be helpful... I see this in my personal journaling as well.<br>I found a blog post from a homeschool mom about penpalling. I think this is a good example of multi-modal beacuse it is a reading/writing activity but also kinesthetic.          <title>The Description Nailed Me.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>V- 10<br>A- 14<br>R- 6<br>K- 11<br><br>I was naturally curious about all of the modalities and my scores in each. As it seemed to do with everyone, my scores initially surprised me, but two times in reading the description of an Aural learner (aloud to my wife) I laughed out loud.<br><br>One description said "likes to make witty comments." (Guilty :)<br>Another one said, "You will probably share these results with someone." My wife laughed and asked if it really said that.<br><br>As I read through other descriptors, I started to notice that there were traits in each that I was able to relate to in various situations. My next highest score (Kinesthetic) had elements that I probably half agreed with when reading the full description, whereas I saw a lot of attributes in myself from the Visual side of things.&nbsp;<br><br>Additionally, with Reading/Writing, I love doing both of those things, I just don't like doing it in all the formats they suggested on here. But I do learn from some of the suggested methods! (Additionally, I love correcting grammatical mistakes and spelling errors when I'm reading books and think of which stage in the review process a book must have been in when somebody ignored or missed the mistake! Okay, I'm a nerd...)<br><br>So, to synthesize what I'm saying, allow yourself to be guided by your findings, but don't force yourself into a box of "this is the only way I can learn." Be adaptable in your learning, even as you may have to make something a little more comprehendible.&nbsp;<br><br>And I don't have any articles for tips right now cause my toddler might be crawling in the toilet :)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My VARK test results were:<br><br>-Visual: 8<br>-Aural: 1<br>-Read/write: 9<br>-Kinesthetic: 13&nbsp;<br><br>I was surprised at my test results at first. I had grown up thinking I was a visual learner-but once I watched this video and read about the Kinesthetic strategy on the VARK website, I realized that this really did apply to me!&nbsp;<br><br>Strategies that I have found helpful for myself in the past are:&nbsp;<br><br>-Watching videos or documentaries about the topic I'm learning. For example, in my DBS I would watch The Bible Project videos on the time period we were reading about, or find images or short documentaries about the ancient ruins or people in history.&nbsp;<br><br>-Make small projects. In my DBS, creating my timeline on a physical piece of paper helped me retain the information far better than hearing about it in lecture.&nbsp;<br><br>Other ideas I researched that I'd like to try with my kinesthetic learners are:&nbsp;<br><br>-Dramas/plays<br><br>-Creating models/flash cards<br><br>-Working on projects with a partner<br><br>I also found this video really helpful :)))&nbsp;&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Also, letting students research before a field trip makes the experience more exciting because then they can ask good questions and connect ideas to reality.<br><br>One of my favorite features is google arts and culture experiments!          <description><![CDATA[<div>My VARK score was:&nbsp;<br>Visual 15&nbsp;<br>Aural, 9<br>Read/Write 15<br>Kinesthetic 16<br><br>In the past, I have taken many different learning style tests so I did know that I am a visual/kinesthetic learner. I was surprise how high my score was on read/write; however I have been a student in many education programs so it must be evidence that I have grown a lot in my ability to learn this way because I had to practice it during my education.&nbsp;<br><br>For students that score high in VRK like I did I would suggest they take initiative and explore how each learning style can be used to benefit their learning depending on the classroom situation/activity. Also I would encourage them to not remain discouraged if they seem to struggle with instructions that are only given verbally; instead take action and ask the teacher if they could give you written instructions or a diagram showing the instructions. I would also encourage them to write and imagine the words/concepts they are hearing when instructions are given verbally. This might help them take in more of what was said. I included a link that shows a video about things that can help a visual learner.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I am a kinesthetic learner. I have to see/hear/experience an example before I can really do it. I think having this modality works well with having ADHD because I am engaged through more than one sense.&nbsp;<br><br>My VARK Scores were:&nbsp;<br>Visual: 3<br>Aural: 1<br>Read/Write: 7&nbsp;<br>Kinesthetic: 15<br><br>A strategy I remember loving most when I was younger and now again in the classroom is acting things out. For me acting things out really made things memorable.&nbsp;<br>Example:&nbsp;<br>- I am trying to teach students about respect, responsibility, and kindness.&nbsp;<br>- We brainstorm ideas as a class.&nbsp;<br>- I ask students to get into small groups and make skits acting out some examples.&nbsp;<br>- Groups present and as a game, those who are watching have to guess which word they are acting out.&nbsp;<br>This would get students moving, talking, and experiencing the word I am trying to teach them about. </div>]]></description>

My  tip would be  to pause them often to take good notes and process.  Then, at the end,  summarize or write the main takeaways.  Otherwise, for read/write learners, the info just doesn't stick!</div>]]></description>

Especially for new concepts I always try to scribble a simple symbol (sometimes it's a combination of symbols) of the concept and how I understand it. It's also great for memorising a list of points - just one look at the symbol and I usually remember what the point was about.<br><br>The link I attached leads to a website that has a whole lot of different icons for all sorts of words/concepts. This might be a helpful addition on work papers you are creating for your visually learning students. Or if you are artistically gifted you can also draw them yourself ;)&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My VARK score: MM (AK)<br>- V6<br>- A12<br>- R5<br>- K11<br><br>I have always considered myself to be a slower learner which has stunted my confidence in school and other areas of my life. As I have gotten older and realized it may have been more due to teaching styles/schooling structures I have gained a lot of confidence that I can do whatever I set my mind to. The combination of aural and kinesthetic learning definitely solidifies information in my brain much more than any other combination of learning modes. When I am actively doing something while someone is instructing me on how it is done, I am much more likely to be able to remember it in the future on my own. I would highly suggest for other learners similar to me to learn in a quiet setting where the only auditory input will be the info you are learning. I get easily distracted and quickly lose focus when there are other loud noises around me as I am watching a video or listening to a podcast. So finding a place to work that is quiet has been key to utilizing my learning preferences.</div>]]></description>

I learn best by doing something and I tend to remember things I've learned if there is a real life story or application attached to it.<br><br>My tip for students who are kinesthetic learners is to always have a pen and paper and to doodle while you are listening to a teacher. It helps to have something in your hand and the motion of doodling actually will help your brain take in the information from the teacher easier.&nbsp;<br>I also think it's important to take breaks from studying to do something active or try being active while studying if possible.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

I <strong>can</strong><em> </em>learn through just one type of input, but I would really <strong>prefer </strong>to have multiple. That's why I love textbooks with lots of words, diagrams, <em>and </em>practical applications.</p><p>I think my best tip for a similar kind of learner is to <strong>take advantage of all your skills</strong>. If there is an opportunity to learn in more than one kind of mode, take it. </p><p>If you're struggling with a particular aspect in one mode, try to translate it to a different one. For example, I'm not that much of an aural learner, but if you just can't focus to read, maybe read out loud if you can't find an audiobook. Or for visual learners, make a doodle that reminds you of the main point of what you read. Or kinesthetic learners could relate what they've learned to a real-world experience. Sometimes just the effort of thinking in a different mode is enough to make it stick.</p>]]></description>

They encouraged using all senses throughout the lesson being taught. Now I'm sure not every lesson will cover all 5 senses but maybe two or three! Another tip that is essential when working with kinesthetic learners is hands-on activities. These learners need to feel something. When teachers present information they can give lots of examples from past learners. </p>]]></description>

I also find it helpful to talk about it with others and get their thoughts on the subject matter, and explaining it to others helps to cement it in my own mind.</p>]]></description>

I’m artsy, like visual representation and remember things in a visual format. The last thing I expected was Read/Write. Boring. The test screwed up. However, now that I look back on it after some digging. It makes sense. I consistently learn concepts from reading them through and rewriting; my notes are exactly like how VARK said a Read/Write learners notes would be; and I am one of those annoying people that watches movies/shows with the captions on.</p><p><br/></p><p>I would say that I learn a concept best when I rewrite it in my own words. My suggestion for other Read/Write learners would be to rewrite the main concepts of your lesson. Summarize and articulate with your own words.</p><p>Something similar to Cornell's method of note-taking (image at top of post).</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I'm definitely a reader and a writer. I'm one of those people who needs to sit down with the rules of a game and read through them step by step. My aural score was also high, so I'd probably be talking aloud through the rules as I read and explained them to others (whether they wanted to hear or not).</p><p> My scores were as follows:</p><p>Visual 2</p><p>Aural 8</p><p>Read/Write 12</p><p>Kinesthetic 5</p><p><br></p><p>I think a good tip for learners with this style is to take notes and then re-write them, putting things into your own words and with your own style, so that you produce something that is unique to you but contains the necessary information. Creating written work in my own voice has always been important to me and I find that I learn best when I can do this. Even better when I can then share and talk about it (that's when my aural style kicks in). I find that I frequently re-read my own writing to cement those ideas or to modify them - my own inner editor at work!</p>]]></description>

Someone who is a strong kinesthetic learner needs to not only observe how an activity is performed but also physically complete it themselves. </p><p>I watched this short clip a few times, but when I tried to tie the band around the cup, I forgot what to do. It wasn’t until I copied the instructor as he demonstrated it that I finally got it.
