1. Throughout chapter one, a major theme that is presented is the idea of engaging students. This chapter represents a variety of strategies to involve the students within the lesson. For example, a suggestion of this major theme is to hold small group conferences. It quotes: “We push students’ thinking about their work, ask them to push themselves…” (Harvey, 2015, p. 5). This shows that the teachers are dedicated towards engaging students and pushing them towards their potential. This chapter also goes on to explain how to engage students in cross-curricular content. This main idea is very powerful and can be involved in different ways through every subject content. Scaffolding Learning, supporting learners by their level, is also explained under this main idea. Technology can help students become engaged in their classroom in different ways. For example, through “Skype, email or tweeting with an expert,” (Harvey, 2015, p. 8). Technology can bring students closer, support their learning and involve students.

An interesting idea that connects student learning to technology is the idea of how to make a Book Video Blog. This incorporates technology use and familiarity with those specific tools as well as how to narrate a book in the correct format. I think this lesson is very strong and powerful. Students will be engaged as it is something new on an iPad, yet they still will be learning and recording their information. This specific lesson connects to literacy, reading and writing.

An interesting section that chapter two focuses on is how to connect technology to our students. It goes on with many subsections that are beneficial. For example, it states: "use play to build a community... offer a variety of tools and experiences," (Harvey, 2015, p. 35). These sections not only explains on how to connect technology with students, but also how to better the students in their environment. It later discusses how you can determine what your students can do with the technology in the classroom. This interesting idea involves student benefits as well as how to incorporate it into the classroom.
