In the second part, I think that it is showing that the secret police are causing riots just because they want to rat everyone else out and tell everyone that this person is rebelling. They are trying to show the government that there are many people against the powerful government. Also, it is showing that more laws are made and the police are getting more strict with the rules. This is making the government even more powerful every time they enforce another law because they are just eliminating every rebel to show to the other people that you could go to jail or even die if you do one wrong step. It also has kind of brainwashing put into the sentences and pictures, like the ones where adults show kids films that promote communism. The police and army also seem to just be the servants of a the government and other higher authorities, almost like they're just puppets.

In my opinion, the main idea of the first set of pages is that there was almost no privacy and several things that could negatively impact government are banned. In addition, it tells us about all the brainwashing that was happening to the people behind the iron curtain. Also, I think that the main idea for the second set of pages is that although the people who like the way the government is run try to strengthen it, some other people are still beginning to rebel.

I thought that without privacy, the things that you do cannot be a secret. Anyone can report you for doing bad things, so you can´t trust them.  Letters are opened, the police follow you around, and western people are blamed for bringing the potato beetles into their country. It is not fair that everyone has to live under a too-powerful government and expect the freedom they deserve. Having a government like this will affect the entire country, and the stabilization with the country will crumble down as if it were a mere cookie. Getting someone in trouble when they did not do anything seems wrong, and then the children will have to live under a world of sadness, or so it seems. This is put into a narrative plot with the way that the author has the description of the way that the government is basically supporting too much of the bad side instead of doing what the government should do. The plot would be to have the people all angry and frustrated, then get them in trouble. This was very important in the text because it shows how the people were defenseless during that time and how the government had no mercy, they took advantage of their power and treated everyone like puppets on a string. The second main idea is that the government had no mercy, they knew that the people were happy when they had there freedom and for that same reason they banished it. The story shows that the government was selfish and wanted everyone to follow their rule. They took away everyone's freedom so they would no how powerful they were and there was no holding them back. Sadly, this was true so there was nothing else to do but to fight for what the people deserved, freedom.
