If ECT has been proven to cure cases of depression and is still widely used, why are there so many anti-depression medication out there? With history of depression myself, and many failed attempts with aiding that illness with medication, ECT has never been offered or even introduced to me. Are there people it works better on than others or does the negative outlook on it deter doctors from using it.

In many or most cases, ECT has only help cure depression during treatment or immediately after. Patients are subject to multiple sessions of ECT with little to zero results and depression almost always returns. ECT seems like it is not the best choice though they claim the effectiveness is worth it.
