In the beginning of this semester I was reading "The Girls" by: Emma Cline. I couldn't really get into the book/have a good understanding of it for me to continue. So I started reading Stamped by: Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. I got hooked right away. They claim it's not a history book but, It is with LOTS of thoughts from the authors themselves to make the book more interesting to read. They dive deep into the past starting with slavery and then going all the way to Obama presidency. Lots of cracks were filled in for me with information that I had no idea about. I very much suggest this read if you are interested in African-American slavery in the U.S. and going forth into segregation and then the jumping into the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

In the book STAMPED by: Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds the main MAIN character and conflict is RACISM. It is all throughout the book and it's something that is tearing people apart by alienating their heads into being just like it.

Racism started off small in the early 1600s. With racism being one of the strongest things on the planet, it does have times where it gets weak. People over centuries have overcome it with small amounts of steps. But in the beginning, nobody really knew what “Racism” really was because everyone was just racist. But jumping all the way to the 1900s people really gave racism a piece of their minds to the point where it was getting stronger.

Going from slave trade/slavery, discrimination and segregation it has just given racism more of another reason to stay. Especially christians, lots of them portray ignorance when it comes to how blacks should live their life. While life has evolved into something drastically different from the christian religion, some still have things from history engraved into their brains from racism on why they “look the way they do”.

But enough ignorance, this character has put me through a lot. I’ve never had a thought about racism towards myself til I got into high school, now that really hit me. I haven’t had a crazy situation with racism, but, I have still interacted with it.

My life on my race has been a roller coaster. Coming from a white family to getting a major cultural shock from my stepdad family. While I may have not had a direct conversation with racism, things I see around me with others talking to racism, racism talking about blacks on social media is still a direct hit towards me. While it can be a struggle, I know I can stand strong and fight racism and take it down. One hit at a time.
