The Maginot Line was a massive defensive system constructed by France as a response to the trauma of World War I. The Line was designed to deter any potential German invasion. Consisted defensive positions and was equipped with lots of weaponry. It later was proved to be strategically flawed. In May of 1940 Germany launched an invasion against France, they bypassed the Maginot Line and bypassed through the Ardennes Forest, catching French solders off guard. The effectiveness of the line was limited causing Germany to be able to invade France.
