c) we think that this precept is important. on the day that the school was celebrating halloween, auggie heard jack talking bad about him with julian and a few of their other classmates. in the eyes of every other student, this was the “right” thing to do and they did not see any wrong in doing that. on the other hand, this unkind act has upset auggie. after halloween, jack has realised his mistakes and wanted to apologise to auggie. however, before he could do so, julian was talking behind auggie’s back again which made him upset. he was unable to control his anger and punched julian. in the other students’ eyes, what jack did was wrong. while auggie thought that this was the “right” and kind thing to do as jack was just trying to protect him.

can understand him more and help
him with his situation. He also wanted auggie to feel more comfortable and socialise with people around the school so he would not feel lonely and have friends. telling us that doing the right thing may not always be helpful to people and may even hurt them. But being kind will always benefit someone. An example of this precept is Summer. Even though Summer was given the choice to hang out with the “normal kids” which in the eyes of others was the “right” thing and spend time with Auggie which everyone disapproved of, she chose to sit with August because she saw him sitting alone looking very sad and knew that this was the kind thing to do. This was very kind of her. This also made Auggie happier. An example of doing the right thing instead of the kind thing is Jack in this passage. In talking bad about Auggie, which everyone saw as the “right” thing to do, he hurts Auggie’s feeling very badly. For example in “Wonder”, Jack was kind enough to be wary of the questions he asked August during the tour, despite the fact that Mr Tushman allowed them to ask August anything they were curious about. Though this resulted in an argument between Jack and Julian, Jack still chose to be kind towards August by watching his mouth and being sensitive. Another example is when Summer chose to sit with August in the cafeteria . Though she could have sat with her friends at another table, she chose to sit with August upon realising that he was sitting alone. Others judged her for sitting with August, but she ignored them. She considered August's feelings and put hers aside.
