I feel like men and women are filled with so much emotion and imagination. When a writer is able to put that into a poem you can truly see into the writer's mind. You can sometimes feel how they feel and see the message they are trying to portray through their poetry. In some ways you can live through their experiences or whoever you want to be in the story. Also, sports can be portrayed as poetry. For the fans that watch sports, they are amazed by the way the players move, "Poetry in motion."

In the song he shows and explains many reasons why he feels his mother is "The World's Best Mom."

My Favorite work of literature from this semester was A&P by John Updike. I chose this work of literature because I feel like Sammy seen something happening that he didn't think was right and he made a decision to quit his job and stand up for what he believed in. Even though in the end he didn't have the best outcome, I believe personally I need to start being like Sammy and do what I feel is right. Rather than second guessing myself.

1) Speech to the Young: This is a poem about how you should never give up on your dreams. Don't let the haters or the Naysayers stop you from living your dream. This relates to the main Idea because it show that poems are important. They have many different messages in them. This also shows that the author is concerned about our future and wants us to make better decisions moving forward.

He said he used to watch his father get up early and light the fires the house can be warm. Nobody thanked him. I feel like he wrote this poem to teach his readers that they should be grateful when they have person like that in their life. Also they need to show them respect and be thankful for everything they do for them. This relates to the main idea because it shows that poems are important and readers should find the message in them.

3) A pair of tickets: I feel that this poem is a testament to children who haven't met their birth parents. This poem is urging them to find out more or for some to search for your birth parents if you haven't met them yet. These two sisters didn't know much about their heritage so they one to China to find out what they didn't know. I feel like this poem sends a massage to children to not be scared to find out more about your heritage or your parents.

4) A&P: This short story shows a boy who normally listens to his peers and does as he is told. In the story there are three half dressed girls that make him do something out of the ordinary. His boss didn't like what they had on so he basically embarrassed them. Shortly after the boy quits hoping the girls would see his heroic acts. when he goes outside he is disappointed and unemployed. This poems relates to the main idea because it shows you that you should think your ideas through before actually doing them. Now he has no job and no girls. If you're going to stand up for someone or something make sure its worth it.

Regardless of where you came from you should have the motivation to be great or at least the best that you can be. Don't limit yourself to what you see around you. This relates to the main idea because you can put yourself in the shoes of the characters in the book. You should be like Dee and not let your environment stop you.

6) This Is What It Means To Say, Phoenix, Arizona: This story has many different messages but this I the one that sticks out. one of the characters in the story was different so everyone picked on him. They would call him names and make jokes about him. In the end he was a big help to Victor even though he was always being picked on by everyone. The moral of the story is that just because someone is different doesn't mean they should be picked on or left out. Everyone is special in their own way and they shouldn't be ridiculed because of it.

7) A Lesson Before Dying: This story shows how badly African Americans were treated. Somewhat like in This Is What It Means To Say, Phoenix, Arizona, African Americans were being treated poorly simply because they were different(Black). If you aren't an African American you could try t picture yourself in their shoes by reading this story. this can show you that everyone should be treated equally and with respect.

Throughout the story it didn't look that way. This story forces you to change the way you look at disputes and arguments. Sometimes you have to look at it from a different perspective. In the poem he portrays the feeling of being a slave and being neglected. He said he was sent to the kitchen as though he was a disgrace but yet his spirt wasn't dead.
