1. Topic-PEDs in MLB

Issues-Steroid use among baseball players in competitive sports

Theme-Integrity of Sports

2. How have PEDs impacted records in the MLB and what actions should be taken to fully accepted, or fully reject steroid use in sports.

3. Counter-argument: if fully accepted it can make the sports records and the gameplay better for the fans. The people on the other side are those who use PEDs MLB and leading up to MLB, they believe that this will give them a competitive advantage and being able to play at a high level.

4. Problem/Stance: PEDs are unfair in the MLB for those who aren't caught and are able to break records and play being on steroids.

5. Solution: Provide mandatory steroid tests each month to stop overall steroid use, or let players use it making it necessary for them to be taken to keep up with other players who use.

1) Health issue theme. Should daily value requirements for all Vitamins and Minerals be fulfilled in elementary and high school meals? Yes, because if you are going to lock children up for 8 hours a day you should provide them with complete nutrition.

2) Are we giving our children adequate nutrition in school?

3) The stakeholders are the school boards and parents. Some counterarguments may be: parental responsibility, cost, interactions with prescriptions, and simply not believing people need vitamins and minerals.

4) The problem is that many kids are not only obese but also very sick and don't know it, just not getting your vitamin B12 can cause serious neurological disorders later in life, and that is only one example. I believe this needs to change for the next generation to not grow up sick and depressed.

5) I need to think about the solution a little more.

Students are unable to concentrate and become impatient at an early age. Students that live in poorer neighborhoods are put at a disadvantage.

POV: I am against the overuse of technology in schools, i think it is important to have a computer lab but i think that most students learn with hands-on learning and it is more beneficiary to use supplies that isn't all in a screen. I also think that it is unfair that some students cannot afford to own a tablet or laptop and are suddenly put at a disadvantage than other students.

2. Should Tablets or Textbooks be used in the schooling system?

3. Counterargument: Tablets make information more accessible to students and allow for a broader and faster environment to learn in. The stakeholder in this would be the corporations that provide supplies for schools and are in charge of school regulations.

4. Problem: Our society is growing in technology and soon most things will revolve around technology, however, hands-on learning is more beneficiary for learners.

5. Solution: Reduce tablets in the classroom to having computer rooms, that students can use. Use textbooks so students can highlight and make notes of things. By writing things down it raises the probability of remembering what is being taught.

1. My theme is athletes. My topic is should professional football players (NFL) be drug tested? The issue is that there are a lot of pros and cons that it is a divided issue. My point of view is that yes, they should be drug tested and steroids should be illegal as an athlete. This is because I believe that a professional athlete, making millions, should be a natural athlete.

2. Should professional football players be drug tested?

3. The counterargument is that not all steroids are bad, some drugs allows for innovation, it limits performance when performance can be increased safely, and athletes will still find a way around the system anyways. The stakeholder is the commissioner of the NFL, the coaches.

The people on the other side argue that athletes using drugs is unfair to the athletes not using drugs, sets a bad example, they are paid so much that they need to work for it, it's a health concern, athletes should be natural, drug testing will protect the integrity of natural sports.

4. The problem is that not every athlete is thoroughly drug tested and if they are and it comes back positive, they are not punished harshly enough.

5. The solution to this is to decide as a whole organization (NFL), whether to drug test or not. They should decide to test every single player on every team and set a strict guideline of rules and punishments/consequences if broken.

1.Topic: Cyanide Fishing

Theme: Ecological, safe, and fare practices.

Issues: Safety and the welfare of humans/ animals/ environment.

Point of View: Cyanide fishing is a very dangerous, unethical, and distrustful method that should be abolished.

2. Should cyanide fishing continue being a legal method of harvesting fish?

3. The counter argument would be fishing companies that use this method stating that it makes harvesting fish much easer, quicker, and safer for the fishermen especially when they are harvesting the harder and more dangerous breeds of fish.

4. The problem in this method of fishing is that once the toxins are placed into the water it effects everything around it not just the thing you intend it to and it is very deadly to all living things including humans. Along with this once in the water it is always there it does not dissolve into nothing, so you must think then what is it's effects on other animals, humans, and the ecosystems.

5. The best solution for this issue is to educate the public of what kind of effects this method of fishing has on all forms of life and what may happen if it continues to be alowed to be used, then steps to abolish this method of fishing would be the next step.

My point of view on this is that there is no cruelty in rodeo, I know because I grew up on the sport and get outraged when people say otherwise.

2:Is there cruelty in rodeo?

3:There is cruelty in rodeo. stake holders will be spectators and the media. People against rodeo believe there is animal cruelty in rodeo.

4:My belief is that the animals in rodeo are treated humanly and fairly to the fullest extent.

5:I would bring people against rodeo "behind the chutes". I would show where animals are held as well as where they are raised.

1. DARE in k-12 schools.

My point of view is that DARE is an ineffective way to address drugs for young students, and isn't slowing down the amount of drugs in schools.

2. Is DARE effective?

3. The counter argument is that it is effective, and that we should continue to use the program nationwide.

The stakeholders would be admins of the school county's that use dare, and the government agencies that fund it

4. The issue is that DARE is stretching the truth about the harm behind certain substances, and when young students find out these things weren't true, it erases all of DAREs credibility.

My stance is that we still need a constant drug resistance program throughout schools nationwide, but it shouldn't be DARE

5. The solution is to create a new program with some changes to what DARE was doing
