It to me is about being more universal about everything we do with our students (and colleagues). The extra effort is rewarded by a more colourful relationship between the content and the students, resulting in better outcomes.

I think it's about equal access to resources that is conducive to learning. As in, someone who cannot buy the newest gadget (or textbook) should not have to earn lesser grade or get lesser opportunity in class to learn. - Inez

equity-minded is recognizing that the people around us (our students) all have valuable lived experiences that can strengthen the learning of others, not everyone comes in with the same background, and the same "interventions" or "helps" will not work for everyone

I teach a lot of labs, so I have a lot of time to get to know my students.

I try to make sure the presentations I do have representations of different genders, races, disabilities, economic situation, lived experiences, etc. I don't know if that helps them.

When we meet people individually, we learn who they are and find common experiences to build a relationship from. Being equity-minded means, to me, that when teaching, we must view our audience as a collection of distinct individuals with a distinct collection of experiences that are equally important to get to know.
