  • The debate over literacy is not as binary as it seems. There is room for both strong phonics instruction and bringing in language/comprehension/fun of reading

  • We also need to plan and implement culturally sustaining practices in literacy instruction to meet our students and community needs

    Learning should be a partnership between teacher and student.
