  • All NBTs are numbers based, so there needs to be a focus on facts. 

    • There are students who do not know what borrowing is and the steps.
    • Students need help with facts and being able to drill and kill (IE: Levine).
      • Most students do not know their basic facts, and that is a foundation to everything else.
    • Students do not know how to write, and they do not want to write. 
      • This is a problem when we get to word problems.

These are skills that should be taught regardless of the specific content focus.
