Move away from the idea of putting on a 'show' for an observation lesson and more to a climate of continually improving practice by giving feedback in a way which builds confidence. Postcards in learning walks are sometimes not well-received because they often point out an EBI which may not be relevant in that lesson and staff do not always feel they have the opportunity to discuss this. Re-think how to feedback in learning walks. When a person is asked to re-do a lesson, there needs to always be some input of support between the 1st and 2nd observation. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>GFS could have more procedures in place to tackle this, supported by SLT. For example, letters sent home to children who are late/absent too many times, signed by SLT. Teachers email parents of children who are consistently late but they don't take it too seriously. <br><br>Similarly, there needs to be some repercussions for parents who consistently pick up their children 20 minutes or more after the end of the day. E.g. an after-school club. Children are checked in at 2.20 or 2.30pm and parents accounts are charged. This may discourage the parents who leave children in the late room until up to 3pm. Parents do not even apologise for being late most days and this needs to be something staff are supported with.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Pupil progress meetings have only taken place once this year and were not followed up. During these meetings I felt that it was me justifying what I was doing for these children who were not making expected progress. I didn’t feel supported in this and it felt like more of a ticking a box meeting for leaders. Therefore the early identifying of this often goes to waste due to the lack of support and follow up. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is a lack of consistency in approach from leaders across the school and often a lack of communication too. There have been too many occasions where leaders are communicating conflicting information. I sometimes find myself questioning “does anybody know what is going on?”&nbsp;<br>I think that different leaders have different expectations and this is particularly apparent in their observations, therefore teachers can find themselves planning for a lesson observation to meet the preferences of the observer. Teachers often “put on a show” because there is so much focus on lesson observations. Whereas it should just be more normal for leaders to be in and out of classrooms and learning walks should be used more often, but as actual learning walks not observations as some leaders appear to confuse the two. If learning walks were to be more frequent it might create a better relationship between leaders and teachers and become more normal to have them in our classrooms. </div>]]></description>
