Before decolonization, Ghana, aka the British Gold Coast, was a British territory located in western Africa. People living in the British Gold Coast provided the British with several crops, mainly, cocoa (used to make chocolate)

Due to the shortage of workers in Ghana, the British began using slavery again to produce more cocoa, however this caused Ghana to be dependent on cocoa and hurt the economy if there was a shortage of the crop. So the British agreed to talk with the British Gold Coast to become independent. In 1957, The British Gold Coast was declared independent as Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah was elected prime minister of Ghana later on, leading to Ghanaian nationalism. Nkrumah made a national background that included their own currency, flag, anthem, and founding fathers. This proved to be a nationalist leader movement.

Due to Nkrumah starting Ghanaian nationalism, he helped his citizens make many projects to improve Ghana, such as hydroelectric plants fo to power up the nation. This helped many Ghanaians have electricity to power up their homes. Due to Nkrumah learning nationalistic traditions from the United States and Great Britain, he helped make the national background of Ghana.

After gaining independence, Ghana no longer depended on Britain for resources and Britain no longer needed Ghana to give them crops like Cocoa.

Before becoming independent from the British Empire, India and Great Britain had several racial/cultural differences, which was shown with technology, like railroads, telegraphs, newspapers, and postal services. India gave Great Britain several goods, like tea and rubber.

Great Britain's rule started growing more and more identity for the Indians. Some people decided to put things into their own hands and try to gain independence from Britain, like Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Mahatma Gandhi was one of the three nationalist leaders who wanted India's independence from the United Kingdom. He expressed his movements with nonviolent, moral transformation of people. He believed in a non-industrialized nation for India after independence. However some people, like Jawaharlal Nehru, disagreed and favored science, technology, and industrialization for India. Others, like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, believed that those that were Muslims should have their own political status in India.

Due to Mahatma Gandhi's and his followers efforts, India finally became independent through a negotiated independence from the UK in 1947. Due to Muhammad Ali Jinnah though, India separated into the Hindi Side (India) and Muslim Side (Pakistan).

Despite the national pride, a million people died in the process of India turning independent, with Gandhi being assassinated a year after India gained independence from Great Britain. India's current flag still has a wheel, a symbol for their hard work for turning independent. Violence also broke out between the Hindi Side of India and Muslim Side of Pakistan over Kashmir, a small piece of land north of Pakistan and India.

Before the independence of Canada, France had control over them, having a huge influence on Canada, especially in Quebec, one of Canada's largest provinces. There are lots of French roots in Quebec. France had lots of other North American territory, spanning from Quebec to the Gulf of Mexico.

In the late 1700s, England took control over what France controlled. This meant that there was going to be a cultural divide between the French and English citizens in Quebec. This started a ethnic movement between the two groups, who major differences. For example, the French people located in New France were mostly Catholics meanwhile the English people in Britain's Canadian colony were Protestant.

Because of the divide of the French and English, the people of Quebec decided to side with the French due to their cultural roots. This started the "quiet revolution" which was done both politically and socially. This led to the Liberal Party taking more control and having more desire for Quebec to separate from British-controlled Canada

After Canada's independence, small nationalistic/ethnic groups from Quebec start expanding, trying to show their power, sometimes violently, like with terrorist attacks, which started in 1963. However, the prime minister, Pierre Trudeau would preserve the unity of Canada. However, In 1995, Quebec almost became an independent nation, failing a small margin.

Vietnam and Cambodia were under French rule since the 1860-70s, being called French Indochina. However, after World War II, leader Ho Chi Minh wanted to turn Vietnam into a United, independent, communist nation.

Vietnam went through an armed struggle to try and gain their independence from France. France tried to put colonial rule on Vietnam to bring them together, but this instead started a war for their independence, which ended with a treaty that split North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

Because of the split of Vietnam, the northern, communist side leader name Ho Chi Minh wanted to reunite Vietnam as a communist country. However, this time, the United States intervened to avoid the spread of communism. However, due to the US entering the war with South Vietnam, North Vietnam did all they could to win and successfully kicked the US out of Vietnam and turned Vietnam united into a communist nation.

After they gained independence, the south Vietnam government Ngo Dinh Diem was overthrown as South Vietnam and North Vietnam were reunited. However, another corrupt, unpopular leader took control of Vietnam. However, Vietnam would later be introduced into a market system economy, which would reopen relations with the United States.
