I used six different paints. Using two shades of red, two shades of green, and black and white I ended up with around 30 to 40 different colors in my oil painting.

2.  Explain where you contrasted neutrals with bold color and why you placed the bold colors where you did (regarding composition).  

I placed my two main contrasting points in the top right and bottom left. The reason I did this is so my neutral colors would guide the viewer down (or up) to the next contrasting point.

3.  What is most successful in your painting and what would you change if you could?

I would've made the background darker now that I look at the painting. To be completely honest the painting feels flat and empty, but I am still very proud of it.

What did you learn by creating this artwork (composition, materials, technique, meaning, etc.) that you can apply to future work?

I learned that going out of my style is fun; I should've done it much sooner. I think this is merely the first step out of my shell.

I learned that oil paint is difficult to work with. It's a very hard medium to master but I hope that I can actually take this bright color palette into my digital works.

 

 I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone, which is why I'm very happy I took this class. I kind of gave myself very little space to improve and this class helped me with that so very much. I'm definitely going to pursue art as my career and I'm pretty sure that I'll be going into illustration and character design. And while doing so, I will 100% try to step out of my art style.
