Kabuki dances are kind of like plays. They show historical events and moral conflicts in relationships of the heart through singing, dancing, and use of skill. The word Kabuki translates to song, dance, and skill.
History- Kabuki came to life during the 17th century. A female dancer, who's name is Okuni, assembled wondering dancers. They danced for the commons people entertainment. In 1629, women were banned from performing, due to social issues, so young boys dressed as women and took their place. With time, older men took on the job and still do to present day. Connections kabuki had to temples were Noh and Jouri(puppet theatre). Kabuki was reformed into Kyogen and is played from morning til' night.
Types- Kabuk- somewhat coursed and unrestrained
Bagaku and Noh- fragile elegance and extreme subtle movements.
Stage- the kabuki stage is very intricate. It uses revolving stages, trapdoors, and a foot bridge( hanamichi) that extend out to the crowd.

Compare and Contrast

The comparison between all the Asian dances is that they all require effort, skill, and dedication. Something similar between the Bhartanatyam dance and Balinese dance was that both use eye movements. The Bhartanatyam and the Barong dance are storytelling dances. Differences I saw was that the Kabuki dance formed and evolved but no other dance did. Also, the Bhartanatyam dance used exquisite costumes and other dances didn't use costumes as extravagant as that. Kabuki's staging was more intricate than other dances.
