The government established The War Industry Board (or WBI) on July 28, 1917 and it meant that organizing businesses had to make and produce war goods.

On August 10, 1917 the government also established the Food Administration, which meant giving more food to the men who were to fight in the war. There was a popular slogan during this time that stated “Food will win the war!” This made the people not want to waste their groceries.

Rationing was like having an allowance of food, it was to control how much food everyone ate, so they could end up giving a lot more food to the men who were about to fight in the war.

A victory garden was when the Americans had the opportunity to help the war. Americans were encouraged to have a victory garden which was producing your own food, like planting vegetables.

The responsibility for the Fuel Administration was the production of coal and oil and to keep the prices reasonable, in the winter though, there were shortages of coal and it was blamed by the Fuel Administration.

A liberty bond was passed by congress and Americans were loaning money and their money was used to finance the war when they fought in WWI
