Pink ambrosia is a bare rooted flower with ruffled petals and a deeper pink eye that blends into a chartreuse throat from sunflower family. Ambrosia is perfect for gardens and can be potted in any climate, in any season. This flower is not picky, it only requires some well-drained soil, the occasional water and a sunny position. But it often pointed at as causes of most allergies – it has a feisty kind of pollen that is dangerous. However, even being allergenic flower, it has been used in the 1800s as a cure for fevers. It is also claimed to have effect as diaphoretic, anti-spasmodic, anti-fungal and expectorant. In floriography this flower is a symbol or devotion and strong feelings. Especially in Victorian era, which is believed to be the most romantic period, ambrosia means love that’s returned or given back to you – it’s a requited love spawned by a purityIt also considered to be the food or drink of the Greek gods, especially those who lived on Mount Olympus. Ambrosia was actually responsible for granting the gods and goddesses immortality. It was said to have been a food tasted slightly like honey. Anyone who ate the ambrosia was granted eternal life. It started after the birth of Apollo, Zeus used ambrosia to turn him into an immortal after Apollo’s mother lost her life. Zeus made sure that Apollo was born successfully despite his mother’s death and after he was born, he ate ambrosia. As the story goes, this turned Apollo into a god

Lilacs are some of the hardiest and most fragrant flowering bushes we are used to see in the gardens. Lilac flowers grow in clusters that form elongated panicles. These panicles can range in length from a few inches to over a foot, depending on the lilac species or cultivar. Their stalked flowers are commonly available in shades of pink, purple, blue, and white.
The lilac's scent is what makes a lilac a stand-out plant in the garden—its scent is stronger in full sun and is commonly used in perfumes and soaps. Unfortunately, most blooms only last a few weeks each year.
Lilacs have come to symbolize spring and renewal because they are early bloomers. These bushes have also held different meanings in different cultures throughout the centuries. The Celtics saw lilacs as magical because of their sweet scent. During the Victorian age, lilacs were a symbol of an old love—widows often wore lilacs during this time. In our area, holding a sprig of lilac over a newborn baby was thought to bring wisdom. In United States the Lilac is a traditional flower given to graduates as a celebration of their achievements and new beginning.
Although the species stands for renewal and confidence overall, each color of lilac has its own specific meaning. White lilacs represent purity and innocence, while purple lilacs symbolize spirituality. If the blooms edge more on the blue side of the color wheel, they symbolize happiness and tranquility. Magenta lilacs symbolize love and passion.
Lilacs are known for their hardy nature and long lives—many lilac shrubs live to be more than 100 years old. Because of their life span, they often survive longer than the gardener that planted them.

Lily of the valley is a very delightful spring flower. is well known for its delicate bells, mostly white in color, and its lovely sweet scent. This fast-growing Perennial makes an excellent ground cover in gardens and grows vigorously to form a fragrant carpet of bell-shaped flowers that nod in spring. Up to 12 bell-shaped flowers, each consisting of six petals, can grow on delicate, slightly curved stems.Lily of the valley is used for spring and wedding bouquets. Lily of the valley is also a very popular scent in perfumes, often found as a base note in floral fragrances, such as Dior Diorissimo, Yardley London's Lily of the Valley, Chloé Eau de Parfum and Penhaligon's Lily of the Valley, etc. It's also a popular scent for spring candles, from brands including Jo Malone London, Diptyque, and Bamford. Lily of the valley is a symbol of purity, joy, love, sincerity, happiness and luck. It is also the national flower of Finland, and in France, lilies of the valley are presented to loved ones on May 1, La Fête du Muguet. Lily of the valley is mentioned 15 times in the Bible, most often in the Song of Solomon. It is believed that the lily of the valley first bloomed where Eve's tears fell when she left the Garden of Eden, and this is strongly associated with the Bible. Lily of the valley was also part of the coronation bouquet of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and remained the favorite flower of the British monarch. Surprisingly, all parts of this innocent-looking flower are poisonous - the flowers and red berries are poisonous if eaten. Lily of the valley contains cardiac glycosides, which are gastrointestinal irritants that can be harmful or fatal. If consumed, the plant can cause abdominal pain, blurred vision, decreased heart rate, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rashes. The plant is safe to handle, but it is recommended to wash your hands thoroughly after touching it.

Summer wouldn’t be summer without dahlias. They are breathtakingly gorgeous flowers that come in every color of the rainbow. The tubers are planted in late spring, and the flowers will bloom continuously from midsummer to fall. They fit into most garden styles, from tropical to cottage borders, and small species can be grown in containers. Since dahlias are not winter hardy, they need winter protection. The blossoms can be open-centered, daisy-like, multi-petaled balls or scalloped ruffles, from 10 cm to 30 cm in diameter. The foliage is usually green, but some have dark foliage for added drama. Height can vary from a compact 30 cm to a majestic 1.5 m or more. These beautiful flowers also have medicinal value. The Aztecs, in particular, used this plant to treat epilepsy. A substance called Atlantic starch, which is derived from dahlia tubers, was a known treatment for diabetes even before the discovery of insulin. Dahlias are the official flower of August, although other traditions recognize them as the flower of the month of November. One of the meanings of the dahlia flower is "to find inner strength". This makes dahlias the perfect flowers to send to someone who may be going through a tough time and needs a little support. Other known meanings of dahlia flowers include loyalty and honesty. So, if you want to let someone special know that you are loyal, you should consider dahlia flowers. In the Victorian era, dahlia flowers symbolized a strong bond and lifelong affection between two people. Nowadays, these flowers are a sign of something new, such as joining a new religion or a new habit.

In China, the camellia represents the union between two lovers. The delicately layered petals represent the woman, and the calyx (the green leafy part of the stem that holds the petals together) represents the man who protects her. The two components are joined together, even after death. Typically when the petals of a flower fall off, the calyx will stay intact. With camellias however, the calyx and petals fall away together, which is why the camellia also represents eternal love or long-lasting devotion.

In Latin, camellia means “helper to the priest” and was named after the Jesuit botanist, Georg Joseph Kamel who practiced pharmaceutical botany in the late 17th century. He is known for his work in the Philippines, where he lived for more than 20 years dedicating his life to discovering new treatments from native plant sources. Although there is no record of Kamel working with camellias, the flower was named after him by Carl Linnaeus to commemorate his many contributions to the world of pharmacy.

My favourite flower is the hydrangea. Believe it or not, you can tell a lot about hydrangea plant care by its name. Hydrangea is from Greek descent: "Hydro" means water and "angos" means jar or vessel. And in fact, hydrangeas need lots of water to thrive.
In Japan, hydrangeas are said to be a sign of gratitude because ancient emperors would give them to their maidens as a sign of thanks. On the other hand, Victorians believed that hydrangeas symbolized boastfulness or vanity because they produce so many blooms but drop little seed to share. Each hydrangea color also has a meaning behind it:

Pink represents love and sincerity

Blue represents forgiveness

White represents boasting or bragging

Purple represents abundance and understanding

Also, Hydrangeas are unique because they have super sticky pollen. That makes it difficult for wind to blow the pollen around, making these flowers perfect for allergy-prone gardeners. They're also fragrance free, which makes them a great addition for those who are headache prone or have sensitive noses.
Hydrangeas are extremely poisonous. The compounds in the leaves release cyanide when eaten, so keep the plant away from small children or pets. Although they're poisonous, it's reported that ancient Buddhists used the roots as an antioxidant in tea to cure kidney issues—but don't try this at home!
