My definition of Self Advocacy has had many changes throughout my life. From a young age my mom taught me the concept of self advocacy, explaining to me how I need to stand up for myself and my needs. As I got older this became a more frequent occurrence, in high school I was very good at making sure my needs were met in a way that was a good example of Self Advocacy. However starting college was a very different environment, I didn't know anyone in my classes or anything. CLC has a lot of extracurricular activities and programs, it gives a very welcoming feel. This helped ,e get over my fear and I no longer have trouble self advocating now.

Time management is the topic I still struggle with to this day. While it is a work in progress i have a problem with procrastination. Ive learned some tactics to improve my time management skills. For example setting realistic timelines for yourself to do something. If I have an assignment due in 2 days I don't have to do it the day i get it but the next day would be realistic, as opposed to putting it off until the last day. My constant want to improve my time management skills will pay off very soon helping me in my college journey.

Test taking in college is very much the same as it always was to me, the difference is just being in college makes the test taking experience way scarier for me. Thankfully I have been taught many strategies to help get past adversity. For example something as simple as studying and being prepared for tests is half the battle. There are strategies like the process of elimination that help uncertainty while test taking. These strategies haven't failed me, and will continue to aid me in my college journey.

Taking notes and listening are a very important part of the college life and without proper skills you will have a rough time. Listening is easy, anyone can do that but comprehension is key and that is where taking notes comes in. The thing about taking notes is they are yours, you can write as much or as little as you want. However you should be able to understand the topic and be able to go over your notes.

Your career path should be something you genuinely want to do for the rest of your life. As of right now there is no certainty of what mine is. That's why you have the choice to change your major as many times as you need throughout your college journey. I am actively trying to find my career and its bound to change many more times.

Stress management is a very underrated skill that every college student needs to have. College as well as life outside of college can be very stressful to juggle. I found methods to help me stay calm and not stress. For example if you have any hobbies do them when you have spare time to keep your head in a positive space. Also sometimes you have to take a break, you cannot let stress consume you .

Transferring is something that is inevitable throughout your college journey depending on how far you plan on taking it. As of right now ISU has my eye. I have multiple friends that go there who are willing to go there and ISU is a great college. This is the one topic that is to be determined later in my college journey. My goal in transferring is to further expand my academic knowledge.

I have a plethora of things that build my identity. So does everyone else, for one I am African American. That is my race/ethnicity this plays a part in my identity, I am also a lot of other things. Like a brother, son, college student, friend, worker, and many more. These are all things that build up your identity.

My definition of a growth mindset is being receptive to making mistakes because you want to improve. Its always trying to do better and see what the next move is. Its being productive when you don't feel like it. You have to overcome adversity to grow and better yourself.

Financial literacy is the importance of being smart with your money, to meet your financial goals. This is often difficult got college students. This is because of the environment of college and the schedule you have. This is also something I feel gets better with age and maturity.
