Often, as a team there is always the one who feels most of the burden. They can often feel as though it's pulling teeth or pulling the whole group along on the strength of their efforts. Can you imagine having that feeling like it's a game of tug of war? Students and adults often have that feeling. As a team, it should be a group effort and not a one man army.

essay on team representation graphics

Our consensus on group work is depicted in three images, although the instructions indicated that we should choose one image and write the essay on the one image. However our work as a group so far as indicated that the three items do depict where we are with teaming. Teaming is an good concept and it will work very well when people are used to working as a team and achieving a group effort and product. Teaming is very difficult when it is hard to find the time to collaborate, and one person in the group usually has to take charge because, otherwise the groups; work may not meet the standards that the teacher has set. Team requires significant preparation and cannot start with the content. Teams need to be developed according to established procedures such as outlined in Friend and Tuckman, two resources from earlier posts.

Students struggle with team work and control issues because they are still young and still finding out who they are. When we thrust them into a group they have to assume a role that they might not want to. For students the storming process might be the one they start with and end with. For them its harder for them to resolve issues with leadership procedures and purpose when some of them like to be wall flowers. They have to take a little more time to be comfortable enough with one another to start to build trust. that can move them to the norming process and achieve the goal they set out for. Students who can handle feedback and who can openly communicate with others will be the ones that end up emerging as the leaders.
