My Dad experienced what a lot of Americans felt. He felt that "many whites were in disbelief of O.J.'s acquittal and many blacks were relieved". To my father, the American Dream is raising a family, having a job or business, and supporting your family. I didn't know the college my father attended was predominantly white. Also i thought he would've sided with O.J. because of black injustice at the time. There are many different thoughts what the American Dream is. I think my dad's perspective is simpler and more attainable than what others would be.

The statistics show that 9% of business close each year, but only 8% are opened each year. People are starting businesses, failing and quitting. More businesses fail than succeed. Similarly, the American Dream is one that will not always be easy and great. There will be a plethora o failures but that does not mean that you can give up. Giving up on a business IS giving up on a dream because you put your mind to start one. This CANNOT be you. You have to be the 8% who keeps trying even though less than 3% of businesses make it to year 5. With that being said, The point is to keep trying. You can never succeed if the effort wasn't given. The Impression as a group had a lot to overcome, especially in that time period. A musical group who first struggled to keep the band together and even attain a record deal turned into a famous singing group with many top songs and a Motown record deal. This perfectly relates to the American Dream because  this is how i imagine the American Dream should be. A "guts to glory" type of dream where you come from little and make a successful life even if you are barely in a better position. Anyone can achieve the american dream with opportunity. All you need is one break and you can make that dream a reality. A tornado will leave you dazed, confused and make you want to stop and quit. The real world experience is very similar to that, especially when trying to achieve your dream.
