I don't know if I could get people to commit to the resource development work. It will be iffy.

I like Shelly's idea and would love to see one of the focus areas be on quality instruction. Washington County Leadership Team met yesterday and agreed to have this as a main focus next year. That would likely draw a pool from Washington County.

I think the three themed days would be easier to get people to go to a day or days that target certain components.

I like the idea of having keynote speakers and breakout sessions, and I enjoyed participating in the World Café at the MCL Conference last summer.

PD
What I heard at the WCLT meeting yesterday was systems' inability to send people to multi-day trainings because of the lack of subs. This has been a challenge for us as well.

I love the idea of the "train the trainer" for complex reasoning. We would benefit from this greatly. I would hope administrators would participate in an abbreviated session on complex reasoning. It might be a great way to kick-off a train the trainer series- to support the upcoming work that the teachers would be engaging in.

Summits
We sent people to the summits on learner feedback. Those who attended were energized by the conversations and the ideas that were shared.

I think we'd likely participate in a summit on grouping and regrouping. I don't know if there's a big enough draw for WC to host, so the Bangor area would be a likely location to send people to.

We haven't participated in the role-alike activities. We have had to pick and choose where to focus our efforts.... I don't see us joining that conversation yet.

Resources
There's so much available.... We haven't even scratched the surface. We need to dedicate some time to this.

I would add that if we keep themes like that, then we can follow up on them with "summits" or more professional development through out the year.
My suggestion for structuring these days would be to offer 2 different "wheel" themes per day. For example: One day could be quality instruction and transformational technology. Another day: motivation and evidence of learning. The other day: Leadership and structures.
I can certainly round up a crew if they did not have to go to all 3 days....

We are not taking advantages of the resources in eduplanet as much as we could. Unless we design time specifically for teams and individuals to explore these, folks don't ten to go into the tool to look around. We are trying to incorporate some time for review and exploration of these resources when we design in-house PD. I am not sure how else to encourage people to access these.

Theme days for the summit may attract more participants if the find a day that is of great interest.
Eduplanet is not something that is used by our teachers.
Train the trainer model is something that WPS would be very interested in for topics such as complex reasoning, growth mindset, regrouping and learning progressions.
I would like the Leadership Academy to get back together. I am thinking the summit is an appropriate time.
