There are nine Posadas and they celebrate the story of where Mary and Joseph looked for somewhere to stay. For the nine Posada days, houses are decorated with everygreens, paper lanterns and moss. Children walk around with candles and a board that include little figures of Mary riding a donkey and Joseph. They knock on the door, singing a song that is asking for a place to stay.
