The aim of our game is to hold an experience that engages children (5-8) in an aspect of environmental education and learning. More specifically surrounding the amount of rubbish in the ocean.

The rubbish in our ocean...

The accumulation of rubbish in our oceans, from plastic waste to old fishing gear. This waste poses a threat to marine ecosystems. It endangers aquatic life, disrupts habitats, and demands immediate concerted efforts for a sustainable, cleaner future.

Although the game is rather simple, it will be able to engrave the problem into young children perspectives on the world's environmental health.

The Soulmaze font by MadeType is bold and easy to read, when using the outlined version it also looks a little retro and cartoonish. It seemed to be a perfect fit for the game.

During the game's testing phase, we encountered some interesting challenges. The sprites, showing the ocean rubbish, had a mind of their own. They repetitively appeared upside down. We fixed and re-fixed them, ensuring they stayed the right way up.

Additionally, our seaweed seemed to be glitching also, generating on top of each other and creating a messy visual. With a few tweaks and adjustments to their pattern, we got the seaweed to sit nicely enough. This was a shared experience across multiple users.

- Our game's colour palette for "Rubbish Fish" has been carefully curated to match the character of our brand.

- The colour pallet uses light simple colours, nothing too harsh with high contrast. We wanted the colour’s to reflect the game's simplicity.

- The colour scheme closely reflects the ocean, beach and underwater scenery.
