Teachers should plan hands on crafts and art projects to help develop a sense of exploration. Storytime, music, and group games are essential in kindergarten because they foster language, cognitive, and social development while encouraging creativity and emotional expression. These activities also build motor skills, teamwork, and problem solving abilities.

This video showcases a kindergarten classroom environment that emphasizes teaching stratifies, assessment methods and the role of observation in understanding students learning processes. The teacher demonstrates various techniques to foster engagement, cater to diverse learning needs and create a supportive atmosphere. It highlights the integration of assessments into everyday activities to evaluate student progress holistically. One aspect that stood out to me was how the teacher skillfully incorporated expectations as opportunities to differentiate and understand individual needs. Children who struggle with certain tasks are not penalized but offered additional support such as phoning a friend. Building confidence in students by providing support can foster a willingness to tackle challenges and develop a love for learning. Children who have a lack of self-confidence outside of academics usually struggle the most. They tend to get embarrassed, feel incompetent, and feel judged. I want to learn more about how I can help students achieve the confidence they need to succeed in their learning abilities.

Currently, I am working at an elementary school as an IA and a staff member at their after school program. My day to day responsibilities as an IA involve floating throughout all grades to aid teachers, lunch/recess duty and front office coverage. My primary job focusses on the after school program where i'm a team lead for the k-2nd group. We split the grades up into two different classrooms do help reduce the chaos with 50+ kids. As a team lead, I plan activities, our daily schedule and deal with conflict. Ive observed that the younger kids need more structure or else they feel lost. I try to stick to the same schedule so they get familiar to the pattern and expectations. It's also incredibly important to remind them of what those expectations are and what responsibilities they have. The career I am interested in pursuing is early elementary educator. This field appeals to me because I love working with younger kids and being able to provide them with a foundation that will set them up for the rest of their lives is important to me. The career requires Patience and Compassion. Young children require guidance, understanding, and encouragement to navigate challenges in their learning and socialization. However, I recognize the need to develop flexibility. Things aren't always going to be planned and executed the way I want them to be so it important to have back up plans and know how to shift gears immediately. To be an effective kindergarten teacher, I need to have enthusiasm for working with children which I believe I do. Children always pick up on passive aggressive behaviors and know when their teacher doesn't feel involved in their learning. These requirements and skills ensure that kindergarten teachers are prepared to nurture the academic and personal growth of young children, laying a strong foundation for their educational journey.
