I can easily scan the room and see who has a good understanding and who needs some help. For this assessment I will have questions related to the lesson written on our snowballs. The students will throw these snowballs at each other, and then pick up a random one. The one that they pick up is their question they must answer. They will write down their answer on their own sheet of paper and then throw the snowballs again. They will repeat this process until I feel like they’ve answered enough questions. Finally, students will take their paper with their answers (and name clearly written!!!), crumble it up, and throw them at me! This is a fun activity for the kids and it allows me to see where they are at. This is a traffic light station with three bins. Students will turn in their assignments in the bin that they feel fits best. If they feel really good about their work they put it in the green one. If they need help, they put it in the yellow. If they feel really bad about their work, they put it in the red. When I go to collect the papers I can already see where my students’ mindset is just based on where then turned them in.
