The girls were wearing the same thing. but the skirts were shorter when they were younger and moved down as they grew older.<br><br>The men was a little more free in their choice but they very often had a vest or waistcoat to accentuate the clothing, and the hat was also very important.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>In the 1800 hundred, child labour was the norm. There was no such thing as child protective services like we have today.</li><li>Over a couple of decades there were laws that slightly improved working conditions and treatment of children.&nbsp;</li><li>The children attended a variety of different jobs.</li></ul><div><br>The main source of energy came from steam, and it powered a lot of things. The child labour was very attractive for the coal mine companies, because children demanded a lot less pay, and is smaller. The working conditions were quite bad. Because of the pressure, small space and quality of air, the children could have permanent issues with their eyes, spine and so on.<br><br>Because of the small size of children, they also got the job of chimney sweeps, especially 3 year olds. Because of the small space it would hurt the childrens arms, elbows, legs and knees. They would get their skin scrapped and worse. If they didn't have any skin on their knees after a chimney sweeping, their boss would wash their knees with salt water and send them down another chimney without sympathy.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

From nine to thirteen they were limited to nine hours a day and 48 hours a week.</li></ul></li><li><strong>1842</strong> - Mines Act<ul><li>This banned the employment underground of boys under the age of ten and all women and girls. No one under the age of fifteen was to be in charge of machinery.</li></ul></li><li><strong>1847</strong> - The Ten Hour Act,&nbsp;<ul><li>This cut the hours of women and the under-eighteens to ten a day and 58 a week.</li></ul></li><li><strong>1850</strong> - The Ten Hour Act<ul><li>This set the working day for all workers at ten and a half hours.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li><strong>1867</strong> - Factory Act<ul><li>The legislation was extended to all workshops with more than 50 workers.</li></ul></li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Toys in the Victorian times were a very exclusive object. Only very rich families could afford toys like a rocking horses or Automata toys, which are toys that are geared and can move when you pul a handle.</p><p>Poor families would make their own skipping ropes, and tightly rap up some cloth, that the children could kick around the streets as a ball. </p><p>Richer families had toys like tee-sets and dolls, where as poorer children would be lucky if their mothers made them a doll, otherwise they would not get new toys.</p><p>A single toy could easily cost the weekly pay of the fathers job.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
