A question we are often asked at school is: 'Do I need to get my child diagnosed for their learning needs?' The short answer is 'no'. We will provide support for your child in class if they display difficulties in any areas of literacy or numeracy. A diagnosis is not needed.

Some people find it useful to have a diagnosis when they go to university to access exam arrangements. Generally, evidence of a diagnosis in not needed for SATS, GCSE's or A Levels. 

Parents can support their child at home in many ways. Most importantly:

  1. Read daily with your child
  2. Practice maths in fun ways at home
  3. Celebrate your child's strengths

If you have concerns about your child's learning, please speak to the class teacher or SENCO.
