2. How did you experience to be in this role (feelings, thoughts, behavior)?

My role was an employee of the factory.I found it interesting in being this role since we were not allowed to talk directly or look straight into other faces. At first, it was fun but then also hard to do so since i was not getting used to talking without looking into people's faces and i had to try my best to avoid any eye-contact with me. I just tried to blow the balloons and talked to my classmate sitting next to me.

3. How were you approached by the other group members( feelings, thoughts, behaviour)

I was approached only by one person from the Richland and that person gave up quickly on trying to communicate with me. Due to "no-eye conctact" it seemed like I wouldn't want to talk with anybody but in fact I wanted to talk. The Richlander seemed to annoyed by the fact that I didn't want to look him in the eyes, he was trying to move to the sides to make an eye contact but I was avoiding it and then he gave up. The idea of getting to know the employees is great but the way Richlanders did it was not.

4. What did you learn from this simulation game?

Substantially, i learned that managing in an intercultural environment is not an easy task to do. It requires the patience, a good observation and analysing skills."When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is quite similar in this simulation game. When coming to another country , a manager should learn about the customs, the belief and cultural differences in order to understand why their employees act in such ways. Moreover, DIE analysis should be applied at first to gain a deeper insights of the situation. Thus, further strategies can be made appropriately.

Ever since I was a small kid I was travelling to germany to visit my family living there. Sometimes my parents brought me with them to visit some of the family friends (native german). For one of the visits my parents told me that there will be cake/ cookies so I went there expecting hospitality equally outgoing to the one I knew from Poland. At first we fell a bit late (the date and time were said which was also a bit weird to the standards I knew) and the hosts actually were upset by it but let us in. Expecting the cake I thought that there will be more when I finish one piece but unfortunately I got dissapointed. Since I was a small kid I said to my parents if they could ask the hostess to give me one more piece, in fact they asked but she gave me a look like I was being naughty. The rest of the meeting I was just playing.
In Polish culture we have a saying like "Guest in home-God in home" and when applying it that means that the people visiting you are offered basically whole table of food (they have to be fed, hosts will eat a bit but the priority is the guest). That time I honestly thought that my parent's german friends were just rude and skimpy.
