It’s an amazing journey that I learned a lot with you for three weeks. I not only learned the useful teaching strategies, but also learned the importance of treating others with warmth and kindness. As I enter the final week of this overseas training program, the highlight of the week is definitely the peer Micro-Teaching sessions. To be honest, I wasn’t too nervous at first, especially since the school hadn’t assigned us a specific grade level yet, which made it difficult to finalize the lesson plan and PowerPoint.

The original motivation for joining this overseas training was to break free from my routine. Sometimes you need to break things down before you can rebuild them. It’s not that I think my teaching is inadequate, but I believe that in this vast world, there’s always something new to learn. I also knew there must be blind spots in my current teaching methods that I hadn’t noticed. During these last two days of peer Micro-Teaching, I’ve gained so much. I witnessed experienced teachers’ meticulousness and precision in their teaching flow, and also saw how new teachers creatively used various online tools. The pre-lesson sharing sessions helped us understand the background of each teacher’s students, and the feedback after the lessons was both heartwarming and encouraging. Along with many positive comments, there were also thoughtful suggestions and curious questions that truly reflected everyone's passion for teaching.

❣️Of course, none of this would have been possible without our mentor, Ceara. She created a space that made everyone feel safe and supported. Since the very first week, she has encouraged us to speak up, to offer all kinds of answers, and she always responded to and validated each of them. She made even the little things we mentioned feel important—like when we complimented her earrings, and she began wearing different pairs each day just for us. She is such a sweet and playful mentor. Ceara’s energy quietly connected all of us together. If that energy had a color, it would be a soft, shimmering rainbow gold—an energy that will carry us far and long in our journeys.
