He was well known for conquering a whole island around the 1800. Also at that time he was considered a general leader so he named himself "Governor-general for life". Now the song I chose was Applause from Lady Gaga, especially the part where it says "I live for the applause, applause, applause." My reason is that when he was born in slavery people think they would stay there but he did a huge event in history. Simon Bolivar was born in 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela. He is known for liberating 6 countries from Spain, which hints why he gets called “El Libertador”. Another thing he did was led a massive revolt against the Spanish. The reason I choose this song was for these lyrics "who cares what they see? Who cares what the know? Freedom". In other words it doesn't matter how much the Spanish have done they can still win against them. The other reason is that they finally got their freedom so they don't have to worry about it.

The year Jose de San Martin was born is 1778 in Yapeyú, Argentina. Jose de San Martin  liberated 3 countries and one with Simon Bolivar which was Peru. He was one of the main roles for being able to win the independence. The song I chose was Hot Wings from Rio and the main lyric was "Imma fly, fly just like a bird". That line in different wording is saying how birds fly freely, how they can do what they want and have no restriction. For the countries to finally be free and not be taken over from and just to get put in a cage. Not being able to do what they think is right for themselves.

The Enlightenment started in 1685. It was mostly about Equality and Liberty, something Simon Bolivar believed in. People that were in The Enlightenment were willing to give away some of  their freedom to get peace and protection. The song I can go the distance from Hercules was a song that fits with it. The lyric is "I will find my way I can go the distance, I'll be there someday". It matches because they were gonna give up some of their freedom to the government just so they can be safe. Going to their limits or more just to get things that help them. How Hercules was able to do more than he thought to do the best he could and them going their distance to help not only themselves but others.

It was an event differing from European colonialism. Saying how they can't get conquered ever again. I chose No from Meghan Trainor there were a lot of parts but one that stood out more was "You need to let it go, uh You need to let it go, uh Need to let it go, uh Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no". Saying no that they have a saying even if they try and try they need to let go of what they are trying to do. If they say no it's not that the answer doesn't change it stays the same. No to not letting them conquer, but in the song saying no to someone. Showing that they don't have to say anything you don't want too you always have the choice to say no.
