He joined the Society of Mary to focus on missionary work. He went on a 10 month journey and his group got split up and ended up on the Island of Futuna. He gained close relationships with the people there and learned their language. Although the leader named, King Niuliki did not like the idea of converting to the Christian faith, but everyone else liked the idea including his own son who wanted to be baptized. St. Peter was clubbed to death. All he was trying to was spread Christianity and convert the people. It worked and 5 months later the whole Island of Futana converted to Christianity

One of the core beliefs that St. Peter Chanel demonstrated was God created us good.

God created us good: After St. Peter joined the Society of Mary, at first his request was declined to go on a mission to spread Christianity. Instead he was assigned to be a priest in a small church in Crozet where he was there for 5 years, and then he later was allowed to go be a missionary. This demonstrates the core belief of god created us good because St. Peter remained patient throughout his time waiting to become a missionary. If God is good, he created us good because patience is a virtue and St. Peter represented that patience is a virtue throughout his 5 years and he remained good.

The Grad at Grad that St. Peter Chanel represents is loving. He represents loving because he loved God and he showed that by wanting to spread Gods will and Christianity to others. When he wasn't spreading Christianity he was preaching to others about God because he loved God. Not only was he loving towards God, he was loving in meeting new people. While trying to convert others he created relationships with people and that was his way of showing that he was loving.
