         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Using Padlet in my Classroom</strong> Since taking another EMU course, I have used Padlet occasionally with my first graders.  One way I integrated it in some of my phonics lessons was to use it as students went on "word hunts."  As I taught them about different vowel teams or phonics rules, our curriculum has them finding examples in their silent reading books and then writing them on a piece of chart paper.  To increase the engagement for this activity, I decided to create a Padlet and have students post words they found on a Padlet wall rather than a piece of chart paper.  As they worked with a partner on the activity, they LOVED seeing their words pop up on the screen as I projected the Padlet on the SMARTboard.  After we were finished, I saved their work as a PDF which I could pull up as a reference in later phonics lessons.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Technology in Learning Drawing</strong> I thought about specifically technology use in first grade.  Just like with the subject areas I teach, a lot of technology use in first grade is about building that foundation (hence the brick wall in my picture) for future learning.  First graders are learning how to use different devices, applications, and programs all while building their foundational reading, writing, and math skills.</div>]]></description>
