         <title>Laceration</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Laceration: blunt force is delivered over a sharp bone or a bone that is poorly padded, giving a wound the appearance of a jagged-edge cavity.<br>Initial Care: First properly clean the wound. Apply antibiotic ointment and apply pressure to the wound with a clean/sterile dressing. Wait for further instruction from a physician.<br>Post Care: Clean the wound with physician and get anything that is left out then apply sutures if needed. Apply antibiotic ointment and monitor the wound for signs of infection. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Incision: Wounds with smooth edges.<br>Initial Care: Clean the wound with soap and warm water. Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or iodine they can cause cell damage to surrounding tissue. Apply sutures to the wound and antibiotic ointment. Cover the wound with clean/sterile dressings.<br>Post Care: Clean with soap and warm water everyday. re-apply antibiotic ointment and clean/sterile dressings everyday. Monitor for signs of infection.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Puncture Wound: Direct penetration of tissues can introduce the tetanus bacillus into the bloodstream, possibly making the athlete a victim of lockjaw<br>Initial Care: Wear gloves to prevent further infection. Do not remove the object from the limb because it could cause excessive blood loss. Apply antibiotic ointment.<br>Post Care: Wash the wound two times a day with soap and warm water. Re-apply antibiotic ointment and clean/sterile dressing. If sutures are needed monitor them and the wound for signs of infection.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Avulsion: Skin is torn from the body.<br>Initial Care: While using gloves, apply antibiotic ointment and apply pressure to the wound with sterile gauze. Watch the wound for severe bleeding and wrap the wound in a sterile gauze pad.<br>Post Care: Keep the wound dry and clean to prevent infection. Staple or sutures may be needed. Apply clean/sterile dressings and continue to monitor for infection.</div>]]></description>

In order to protect the injured person and the professionals there are guidelines in place to prevent bloodborne pathogens. When caring for an injured person you need to be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, face shields, and gowns.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>How to Remove Gloves:<br>1- With your dominant hand grab the middle of the glove on your other hand.<br>2- Pull the glove off and ball it up in the hand with the glove still on.<br>3- Take two finger of the hand without the glove on and stick them inside the glove you have on and take it off.<br>4- Throw the gloves away and wash your hands with soap and warm water.</div>]]></description>
