It was a good book with a lot of friendship and the rights of the black people.
Esther Young was a 14 year old kid who stayed back a year because she couldn't catch up with the other kids. In the summer her family was expecting a black 18 year old boy guest in their house. His name is King-Roy Johnson, At the holidays King-Roy and Esther spends a lot of time together. King-Roy also teaches Esther to tap-dance, but King-Roy got a phone call from his friend Ax he was going crazy because of the black people and the white devil. Esther tries to bring back the old King-Roy and his kindness. Then she has a fight against her parents because her parents were keep on saying she is dumb and weird and really not ladyish. But she didn't give up hope and her friend Pip helped her to go to the path she wants to go. At sometime Esther and her sister and brothers open a show in their house and Esther performs super well. And a month before the school started Esther brings her family to the March for all of the black people and the white people. It was held in washington and the reason she brought her family was because she wanted to be the change. And King-Roy was shot dead on that day at his aunt's house.
