This story tells us what’s the real friendship, but here is described a wrong friendship between Hans, a little, simply, honest and good worker man who has a best friend: the Miller. He is a good orator, but he doesn’t do anything which is concrete, he don’t do anything but he use the other people specially with the poor Hans. Hans believed at all the Miller told him: so he neglected himself and their job because was busy to do what the Miller was asking him.

When during the terrible winter the Miller staid at home, keeping saying that it was the right thing to do, while the poor Hans was suffering the cold and the hungry. When the spring arrived the Miller offered him his wheelbarrow, so with this excuse asked him a lot of favours. Slowly Hans became more and more tired because he was working free to the Miller.

At the end, the Miller asked him another favour, it was a terrible night with a frightening storm and the Miller’s son was ill, he needed a doctor. Hans went out to call the doctor, but he never returned back: the tiredness killed him. But the story wasn’t useful for the water-rat, so he went away. He didn’t understand the moral.

The giant came back from his friend’s place after seven years. Seeing the children play in his garden, he angrily chased them away and built a high wall around the garden.

After the children stopped coming to the garden, the trees and flowers were so sad that they lost their beauty and were covered with snow and frost. No birds came to sing there. Spring was everywhere but in the giant’s garden it was still winter.

One morning, the giant saw children playing in the garden. And spring arrived in the garden at last to express its happiness on seeing the children again.

The giant realised that he had been selfish and was very sorry for what he had done. He let the children play in the garden every day. The giant’s favourite the children was a little boy who had kissed him when he helped him to get on of the tree. But the little boy stopped coming to the garden and the giant was very sad.

Many years passed and the giant becomevery old and feeble. One winter morning, the giant saw the same boy under a tree. The boy was an angel who had come to take the giant to the garden of Paradise. And when the children ran in that afternoon, they found the Giant lying dead under the tree.
