In the first quote, Captain Beatty is describing the education that they have. This is significant because Beatty is saying that these things that people learn from school are not important and it does not bring people happiness, so that is why they do not care about their education. But, in today's society, people believe that education is the key to happiness, such as finishing and passing school to get their dream job and make money. In the second quote, Beatty is saying that the firemen are tricking people into thinking they are learning new things to keep them happy, even though they are not learning anything new. The third quote is important because the women really cared for her books and would not leave without them and so she stayed with the books and burned with them to prove her point that books are valuable. The fourth quote is meaningful because in the book, people did not understand and value people who were thinkers because they thought it would not make them happy. But, in today's society, people are grateful for those thinkers because those are the people who discover new concepts and create new ideas for everyone else to learn from. Lastly, in the fifth quote, Beatty is telling Montag that school is becoming more active instead of thinking, but in this society, schools havemore thinking and examiners because that is what gets people what they want, passing school to get their job and from that job the money that they earned from it.

In Fahrenheit 451, people ban books to stop them from being curious and exploring, but in today's society, schools encourage reading and being creative and curious. People in the book are limited to discovering since they do not know what the world is like and they feel as if it would make them unhappy. However, people in today's world explore for fun and if they find something that they think is rare/special, then they record it down in a book so that others can read and learn from it. Many people have expanded their curiosity from books because they become more interested in the world from reading what other people have found. Their creativity levels have increased as well because they get inspiration from books and they are inspired to create their own book or to read and learn more from other people's books.
