- Pres. Roosevelt signed this to try and saved the nation from the Great Depression by inspiring people to work and make money for industries
- Made it so workers can make a living wage. Made it easier for people to stay working and have a family. 
- With this act some people could still be paid less than minimum wage in certain jobs. Raised controversy and today some people still are paid less (waiters)

- Helped keep youth in schools by providing jobs to young people so they wouldn't have to drop out. 500k College students, 600k high school kids provided with work. An act of reform so the future of the country could be educated and families more stable.
- The purpose was the keep the youth in schools and work at the same time,
-Also went hand-in-hand with FLSA because these jobs were subject to the same minimum wages
-A problem was that families still needed help at home, and with kids at school they have less people around to help.

 - Provides a regular income to retired and disabled workers so they can still live off of wages even if they are now unemployed. 
- Purpose was to get everyone on a payroll and reduce unemployment for those who simply could not work.
- Set up "pay as you go" where people pay their taxes as they earn their income, more stable way to pay
- Problem was many Americans were still unemployed and ineligible for Social Security.
