But the story shows us the close bond that he has with his grandmother, who helps CJ see the beauty in what he does have. The author of this book uses childhood memories to create a story about a young girl named Tricia.  It is a beautiful picture book that shares the experiences  a girl faces through her journey in a segregated southern town. Tricia is on her way to a special place which is revealed in the end of the book. This is a wonderful picture book about a beautiful story of friendship. Samson is a lonely mammoth who wonders what it would be like to have  friend. Samson sets out to help a little red bird and continues to help others. I would use this book to inspire a culture of friendship among my students.
