Talmud-written version of Jewish law and notes on how to properly follow it. Torah-The Torah is the first part of the Jewish Bible and is written in Hebrew. The Torah was given to Moses 50 days after the Jewish people left Egypt

Section Three: Important People in Judaism

Moses and Abraham are two of the most important people in the Judaism religion. Moses is believed to be the main connection between God and the Hebrews (the Jewish) as he received the Torah from God. And Abraham God promised him that he would be the father of a great people if he did as God told him too. Abraham was the first person to teach that there is only ONE God.

Section Four: Sects (groups) within the Religion

The four groups in the religion are Conservative Judaism, Liberal Judaism, Reformed Judaism, and Orthodox Judaism. Conservative Allows for gradual change in the law. Liberal Judaism aims to bring Judaism and modernity together. Reformed Judaism services are no longer conducted only in Hebrew but in a mixture of Hebrew and English in order to communicate with more people. Lastly for Orthodox judaism follow the legal precedents and principles that were given to Moses the most closely and strictly.

The place of worship is called the synagogue. At the synagogue, prayer and services are led by the rabbi. This can be a man or a woman. Most jews go The Saturday for the Jewish holy day of the week is called Sabbath. Jewish men will wear a yarmulke when giving worship. In Judaism, they must eat kosher and can not eat anything pig related.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year festival that commemorates the creation of the world. It is also seen as a judgement day in which Jews believe God judges their good deeds of the past year against their bad deeds and decides what the next year will be for them. God records His judgement in the Book of Life where he sets out who is going to live, who is going to die, who will have a good time, and who will have a bad time during the next year.

Section Six: Holy Days/Festivals

Jews celebrate the Feast of Passover to commemorate the liberation of the Children. The story of Passover is told in the Book of Exodus. In the story, the Children of Israel had been slaves in Egypt for 210 years God promised he would release them from slavery but pharaoh had other plans. Now God created 10 plagues to demonstrate his power. The ten plagues are: Plague of Blood, Plague of Frogs, Plague of Lice, Plague of Flies, Plague on Livestock, Plague of Boils, Plague of Hail, Plague of Locusts, Plague of Darkness, and Plague on the Firstborn.
