Y USA warned AGAINST the Y coming to Vevay - their data shows that it takes a population of 25,000 people within a 5-7 mile radius to support a facility of this magnitude.

BUT, did that stop our small town? No.

At the same time Switzerland County was bringing in the Casino. The county made a commitment then to designate a percentage of the Wagering/Admissions tax to help sustain the Y indefinitely -- Becoming our Strategic Partner.

Membership rates have increased less than 5$ since the establishment of the Y

This halt affected all 16 organizations that originally promised including the local Fire Departments, 4-H, Historic Foundation, The Library etc.

The Y had for 20 years built this partnership into our operating budget, leaving us with a $90,000 hole to dig out of.

Reserves are being emptied

Cashflow is difficult

Discussions with Jefferson County have halted

Membership rates will increase in Sept, but will remain low comparatively to stay accessible to our community.

We are hopeful that the environment will be more positive for us next year. Our immediate challenge is to sustain through March of 2025.
