1. Why were these two plays important to read and think about?

These two plays were important to read and think about because many of us can relate to different events that occurred in these two plays. They were both relevant to our generation in some aspects. For example the bullying that happened in The Shape of a Girl could be related to some people's lives. And Kim’s Convenience is the social aspect of Appa and Janet in a way that is almost relatable. Sort of a bickering between child and parent.

2. What is a subject that you would like to see in a play and that you would like to study? Is there a particular theme that your age group would be interested in looking at OR should be looking at?

I would like to see a play that involves a sport like hockey or lacrosse or rugby as they are my favorite sports. I think they could show their struggle as a player and as a student. The age group could be between 18-20 as that seems to be the biggest change between a player just playing for fun or trying to play competitively at a higher level.

The organization in this assignment was the hardest or biggest challenge to figure out. Because different group members were in charge of their own section and as a group we just had to hope that they all did their part. It wasn't too bad having everyone do their piece, it was putting it in order.

Pros- Workload wasn't as hard, We had more minds to collaborate on certain parts in the scene we chose, More ideas.

Cons- When at home trying to contact group mates was difficult, not knowing if other group members had their part done, not having the connection to make sure everything makes sense.

I am most proud of how the costumes and character recasting went the best out of all the parts. And the presentation of the assignment I feel that we presented it in a different way. Rather than putting it into a binder we put it in a folder to make it feel more like a director just threw it together and has everything available to him/her

6. Create a thesis with three supporting points for ONE play you have read. What were your strategies in making this thesis? How did you create this thesis?

Throughout many generations, Asian Canadian immigrants have had to battle for their financial survival. Appa, a convenience store owner in Toronto must battle Racism, his own family and his will to survive in Canada.

My strategy when making my thesis was looking at the problems that Appa faces when he is trying to make it in Canada and pass it down to his family because that is his main goal.

7. Why is it important to study a play for a media text?

I think it is important to study a play for media text because in a play we can get an in depth understanding of the conversation. Making it easier to understand feelings and thoughts that characters have hence making analyzing characters better and more interesting.
