The little monster, left all alone, filled with fright. With no defense, his only option was to flee. Shapeshifting into a sleek wolf, he took one last glance at his mother before trotting away through the thick forest. After many moments, the sound of men yelling faded. As the sun began to set, his new wolf instincts led him to the highest mountain, where other wolves gathered under the full moon.

“OWOOOOOO!” cried the fluffiest wolf. “Hey, looks like we have a new alpha, dudes!”

“U-Ummm, I guess I’m the new alpha? But did y'all see armed men run through the forest?” said the little shapeshifting monster, now uncertain in his new form.

“Oh yeah, we did, dude,” replied the fluffy wolf.

“Where?” the shapeshifter asked. The wolves all pointed in different directions. “This isn't helping!” he exclaimed in frustration and walked away, returning to his natural form.

“I’m never going to find my mother. I’m just a tiny, defenseless blob of nothing,” said the disappointed monster. Determined to find a solution, he spent all night shapeshifting into different animals. “I could be a pigeon and fly above everything, or a hamster and squeeze through tiny holes to scare humans!”

At dawn, the monster shapeshifted into an eagle and flew towards the nearest city, New York. “Wow! The lights of this... um, city are AMAZING!” he exclaimed as he soared above the busy streets. Suddenly, he began to fall. “Uh oh!” he said, shifting back into his slimy, yet cute, monster form. He landed safely near a toy shop just as a little girl and her father were walking out. Thinking quickly, he shapeshifted into a corgi dog.

“OMG, OMG!” the girl shouted. “Daddy, can we take this corgi, PLEASE!”

“Okay, sweetheart, we can take the corgi,” her dad replied.

One night, after Lily went to bed, Buddy sneaked out of the house. He shapeshifted into an owl to search for clues about where his mother is at . As he flew high above the city, he spotted some strange men in black suits—the same men who had chased him and his mother! Quietly, Buddy followed them as they moved through the city, sure to find out where they were hiding his mother.

He watched as the men entered an old, abandoned warehouse on the outer area of the city. landing near a window, Buddy peered inside and saw his mother locked in a cage! His heart raced as he realized he had to rescue her. He flew back to Lily’s house and turned back into a corgi. In the morning, he tried to show Lily where his mother was, tugging on her sleeve and barking urgently.

Lily noticed how worried Buddy seemed and decided to follow him. Buddy led her to the warehouse, where they peeked through the window and saw the men and the cages. "Stay here," she whispered to Buddy. She called the police and told them about the bad men and the trapped animals. Buddy waited sadly, hoping the police would arrive in time.

But he felt so bad seeing Lily all alone, he decided to stay with her, saying bye to his mother, he sadly drooped away
