Why do you need a SMARTBoard anyway?
1. What do you regularly rely upon your SMART board for? Projection? How Critical is touch? Writing on display? Dragging and manipulating tools?

It is a visual tool for students who require visuals.

Anonymous 4m
I use for all of the above. Also use links to go to videos, also use interactive tools (timer, dice etc...

Anonymous 4m
daily announcements, warm-ups, notes, interactive learning

Anonymous 4m
Work together on activities,

Anonymous 4m
SMART Board is my LIFE!!! I post my agenda, homework and all classwork on this. I pair it with my airliner and do all notes and shared writing assignments with it.

Anonymous 4m
delivering instruction, teaching lesson, showing examples

Anonymous 4m
All lectures, going over notes, drawing on maps, students use it to practice map skills, document analysis, basically anything that is whole group BECAUSE THE LAST THING I WANT IS TO TEACH 30 KIDS WHO HAVE THEIR NOSES IN THEIR DEVICES WHILE I AM TRYING TO TEACH THEM.

Anonymous 4m
I use it for visual representations for math so students understand the more abstract language of math.

Anonymous 4m
Group discussion...writing notes...good visual tool

Anonymous 4m
Agendas, teaching lesssons

Anonymous 4m
Visual tool as well as writing and drawing to demonstrate.

Anonymous 4m
I typically use the SMART board to view movies as a class, project daily agenda, learning targets, directions. Touch is not too critical but it is used a bit in my class room.

Anonymous 3m
Projection- touch is critical (so that it is "your computer" in front of you- to use the browser

Anonymous 3m
I use it to bring up visuals for my students. I use it for note taking. I use it for the agenda.

Anonymous 3m
We use it for a variety of reasons, including: notes, projection, games, videos, modeling, (especially if on Chromebooks).

Anonymous 3m
Students demonstrating their work for class.

Anonymous 3m
I use the smart board all the time. Very disappointing news!!!!!

Anonymous 3m
I use the smartboard for projection and writing on display (writing is mostly necessary to demonstrate math problem solving)

Anonymous 3m
A visual instructional tool

Anonymous 2m
I use my Smartboard daily to interact with the math that students are working on. I always write on or have students write on the Smartboard and we often manipulate things on the samrtboard, such as Ginzy, etc

Anonymous 2m
I use the SMART board for warm ups, agendas and visuals to show examples. Touch and writing are not used that often.

Anonymous 2m
got to have it. I use it all the time. not at all "JUST FOR PROJECTION"

Anonymous 2m
for everything - agenda, projection, interaction

Anonymous 2m
I show video clips, I put up all my PowerPoint presentations, and worksheets. Students come up and answer questions on the smartboard.

Anonymous 2m
My daily lessons are on the SMART board. Projecting math problems, solving problems, showing visuals, etc. I do write on the SMART board each day.

Anonymous 1m
I use smartboard all the time, every day, every period. I show art powerpoints and art examples. It is a wonderful way to expose students to art of any and every museum in the world. I also draw on the smartboard and use the tools, touch control

Anonymous 1m
Interactive websites/activities, showing pertinent video clips/performances, seating charts, differentiation in lessons. Accuracy of calibration/touch is imperative.

Anonymous 1m
We barely use one.

Anonymous 1m
show videos to students regarding social skills lessons

Anonymous 1m
I use the smart board for occasionally for showing presentations or writing on it but a lot of the time I can not write because it malfunctions when I try to write on it.

Anonymous 1m
I use the Smartboard for projecting info, interacting with unit of study packets, and demonstrating/ sharing drawings, answers, etc. It's crucial to my program.

Anonymous 1m
I use my smart-board for Daily Announcements, Slides, Group note taking, interactive review games which require touch capabilities. I use dragging all the time!

Anonymous 1m
Visuals, interactive lessons, student participation, post agenda and learning targets, color code steps in a math problem, color code vocabulary words, timer

I use the smartboard for every lesson...warm up, copies of what the students have, interactive tools(random wheel)

Anonymous 4m
use more for modeling and less for activities/student learning

Anonymous 4m
I do a lot of hands on using supplies I still would use the smartboard.

Anonymous 4m
They can't have my smart board.

Anonymous 4m
I'd like to display my lessons live with students if we only go one-on-one.

Anonymous 3m
the doc camera cant bring up things from the internet?! The smartboard is more useful for visuals on the net and interactive. Videos!!!

Anonymous 3m
None

Anonymous 3m
the focus will be more for students to show the work than being a teacher centered/controlled technology.

Anonymous 2m
I will be fine without SMART notebook/board as I only use it for projection

Anonymous 2m
This would be a better use for me because I can then show more demonstrations to the class. Currently I still use an overhead projector to show specific demonstrations.

Anonymous 2m
I don't expect it to change. I like the use of a visual tool to display lessons, model work, use as a focal point.

Anonymous 2m
Smartboard will still be necessary for showing videos/showing students how to get to certain sites and assignments on their devices.

Anonymous 2m
i'm sure IT will tell us they have a better solution like they always do.

Anonymous 2m
1:1 should be more individual and student driven. The camera might be cumbersome. Can we carry it around the room? It seems confining.

Anonymous 2m
None, I use both the SMART board and 1:1 assignments. I would hope we have something to use. I dont want to go back to the chalk board. I need something to model and hold the students attention.

Anonymous 1m
not all kids learn the best 1 on 1. other strategies are needed,

Anonymous 1m
I would still like something similar for some teacher guided practice.

Anonymous 1m
not much... the SMART board will still be used for agendas, warm ups and visuals while the students work on their chromebooks

Anonymous 1m
I really like the idea of a doc camera, but with large group instruction (classes between 50-100 students) one main large board for teacher instruction is necessary.

Anonymous 1m
I am hesitant to leave Smartnotebook, but I felt that way with getting rid of the overhead, so I am sure I would be able to shift with the times, but I am sad about it!

Anonymous 1m
If they are discontinuing SMART Notebook/SMART Boards in our district, then I will try to find new programs ASAP supported by our 1:1 program that would replace the SMART board

Anonymous 1m
Converting my smart notebook files to pdfs

Anonymous 1m
Why is it going to have less functionality? Can't I choose what is best for me and my students?

use more for modeling and less for activities/student learning

Anonymous 5m
I do a lot of hands on using supplies I still would use the smartboard.

Anonymous 5m
They can't have my smart board.

Anonymous 5m
I'd like to display my lessons live with students if we only go one-on-one.

Anonymous 4m
the doc camera cant bring up things from the internet?! The smartboard is more useful for visuals on the net and interactive. Videos!!!

Anonymous 4m
None

Anonymous 4m
the focus will be more for students to show the work than being a teacher centered/controlled technology.

Anonymous 3m
I will be fine without SMART notebook/board as I only use it for projection

Anonymous 3m
This would be a better use for me because I can then show more demonstrations to the class. Currently I still use an overhead projector to show specific demonstrations.

Anonymous 3m
I don't expect it to change. I like the use of a visual tool to display lessons, model work, use as a focal point.

Anonymous 3m

Use more to model and show examples.

Anonymous 1m
BTH...this is a glorified overhead projector!! I struggle with being able to upload an electronic document to be able to write on (like the smart notebook software)...

Anonymous 1m
I am holding out for 1:1 devices to be made obsolete by student learning implants.

Anonymous 1m
until teachers can project the their lesson in "live real time" (like lanschool, we have to have smartboards to get the message across. Otherwise, teachers will be running all over the room putting out fires

Anonymous 3m
Students demonstrating their work for class.

Anonymous 1m
I use smartboard all the time, every day, every period. I show art powerpoints and art examples. It is a wonderful way to expose students to art of any and every museum in the world. I also draw on the smartboard and use the tools, touch control

I am hesitant to leave Smartnotebook, but I felt that way with getting rid of the overhead, so I am sure I would be able to shift with the times, but I am sad about it!

i would be fine with a whiteboard and projection. However I know other teachers use the touch

Why do you need a SMARTBoard anyway?
1. What do you regularly rely upon your SMART board for? Projection? How Critical is touch? Writing on display? Dragging and manipulating tools?

It is a visual tool for students who require visuals.

Anonymous 1h
I use for all of the above. Also use links to go to videos, also use interactive tools (timer, dice etc...

Anonymous 1h
daily announcements, warm-ups, notes, interactive learning

Anonymous 1h
Work together on activities,

Anonymous 1h
SMART Board is my LIFE!!! I post my agenda, homework and all classwork on this. I pair it with my airliner and do all notes and shared writing assignments with it.

Anonymous 1h
delivering instruction, teaching lesson, showing examples

Anonymous 1h
All lectures, going over notes, drawing on maps, students use it to practice map skills, document analysis, basically anything that is whole group BECAUSE THE LAST THING I WANT IS TO TEACH 30 KIDS WHO HAVE THEIR NOSES IN THEIR DEVICES WHILE I AM TRYING TO TEACH THEM.

Anonymous 1h
I use it for visual representations for math so students understand the more abstract language of math.

Anonymous 1h
Group discussion...writing notes...good visual tool

Anonymous 1h
Agendas, teaching lesssons

Anonymous 1h
Visual tool as well as writing and drawing to demonstrate.

Anonymous 1h
I typically use the SMART board to view movies as a class, project daily agenda, learning targets, directions. Touch is not too critical but it is used a bit in my class room.

Anonymous 1h
Projection- touch is critical (so that it is "your computer" in front of you- to use the browser

Anonymous 1h
I use it to bring up visuals for my students. I use it for note taking. I use it for the agenda.

Anonymous 1h
We use it for a variety of reasons, including: notes, projection, games, videos, modeling, (especially if on Chromebooks).

Anonymous 1h
Students demonstrating their work for class.

Anonymous 1h
I use the smart board all the time. Very disappointing news!!!!!

Anonymous 1h
I use the smartboard for projection and writing on display (writing is mostly necessary to demonstrate math problem solving)

Anonymous 1h
A visual instructional tool

Anonymous 1h
I use my Smartboard daily to interact with the math that students are working on. I always write on or have students write on the Smartboard and we often manipulate things on the samrtboard, such as Ginzy, etc

Anonymous 1h
I use the SMART board for warm ups, agendas and visuals to show examples. Touch and writing are not used that often.

Anonymous 1h
got to have it. I use it all the time. not at all "JUST FOR PROJECTION"

Anonymous 1h
for everything - agenda, projection, interaction

Anonymous 1h
I show video clips, I put up all my PowerPoint presentations, and worksheets. Students come up and answer questions on the smartboard.

Anonymous 1h
My daily lessons are on the SMART board. Projecting math problems, solving problems, showing visuals, etc. I do write on the SMART board each day.

Anonymous 1h
I use smartboard all the time, every day, every period. I show art powerpoints and art examples. It is a wonderful way to expose students to art of any and every museum in the world. I also draw on the smartboard and use the tools, touch control

Anonymous 1h
Interactive websites/activities, showing pertinent video clips/performances, seating charts, differentiation in lessons. Accuracy of calibration/touch is imperative.

Anonymous 1h
We barely use one.

Anonymous 1h
show videos to students regarding social skills lessons

Anonymous 1h
I use the smart board for occasionally for showing presentations or writing on it but a lot of the time I can not write because it malfunctions when I try to write on it.

Anonymous 1h
I use the Smartboard for projecting info, interacting with unit of study packets, and demonstrating/ sharing drawings, answers, etc. It's crucial to my program.

Anonymous 1h
I use my smart-board for Daily Announcements, Slides, Group note taking, interactive review games which require touch capabilities. I use dragging all the time!

Anonymous 1h
Visuals, interactive lessons, student participation, post agenda and learning targets, color code steps in a math problem, color code vocabulary words, timer

Anonymous 1h
not too impressed with doc camera focus/clarity that I've seen so far. Difficult for visually impaired students to see what is being projected. Need more interactivity also

Anonymous 1h
I use the smartboard for every lesson...warm up, copies of what the students have, interactive tools(random wheel)

Anonymous 36m
I use the smartboard each day for projection but also for sorting and manipultions. A major concern about the document camera is that my back would often be to students as I worked which we all know causes a increase in unfavorable behaviors.

Anonymous 1h
I do a lot of hands on using supplies I still would use the smartboard.

Anonymous 1h
BTH...this is a glorified overhead projector!! I struggle with being able to upload an electronic document to be able to write on (like the smart notebook software)...

Anonymous 1h
I am holding out for 1:1 devices to be made obsolete by student learning implants.

Anonymous 1h
until teachers can project the their lesson in "live real time" (like lanschool, we have to have smartboards to get the message across. Otherwise, teachers will be running all over the room putting out fires

Anonymous 1h
Ahh scary to think about teaching without it

Anonymous 1h
Still need it for projecting something for all to see....

Anonymous 43m
???? should teachers really have to be tethered to there computer desk while teaching a lesson. How boring for the learnier. going backwards????

Anonymous 39m
Will we get an extension USB cord in able to NOT have your back to the classroom while using the document camera?

Anonymous 37m
A document camera is a step backwords for my practice. I can accomplish everything I need now with a Smartboard alone; I could not say the same about a document camera.

Anonymous 36m
A 70 inch screen is awfully small to project information to a full classroom.

Anonymous 1h
I would be okay with that as long as there was another way to show presentations.

Anonymous 1h
Not ready to wean off of it. Why give up all the money we have invested in this as a district. It seems we, "jump on the bandwagon" WAY too fast. Why fix it if it isn't broken?

Anonymous 1h
I would need to convert my Smart Notebook files. Would also need professional development on new program.

Anonymous 1h
I would like to know what other seasoned 1:1 teachers use that have replaced the SMART Board/ Notebook software. What has worked? What has been a challenge for you? What programs do you use with the chromebooks when flash based websites no longer work? What do you tend to avoid because our chromebooks cant handle it?

Anonymous 1h
More information on what and when we are switching technology

Anonymous 1h
time to switch modes of teaching

Anonymous 1h
How would you show video clips to a whole class that you want to comment on throughout the clip? If each student is watching on their own device, how can we make sure they are at the same point?

Anonymous 1h
I still need something to project information and directions as they walk in and while I have them close their computers. Doing everything on the computer is a pain because their attention span while their chromebook is open is very limited. I also rely on the projection to model what I am asking them to do.

Anonymous 1h
Need LOTS of help... Need extended time. Need 1:1 assistance. Can I get a 1:1 Monitor?
