This video is all about the brief introduction to Monetary policy of Canada. what is interest and how it works and affects on the economy overall.
Monetary policy is ultimately about maintaining trust in the value of money by providing stability in the general level of prices. In Canada, the monetary policy is conducted by the Bank of Canada adjusting very short-term interests to achieve a growth rate of real output consistent. The target for the overnight rate, also known as the key policy interest rate, is the interest rate that the Bank expects to be used in financial markets for one-day (or "overnight") loans between financial institutions. This key rate serves as the benchmark that banks and other financial institutions use to set interest rates for consumer loans, mortgages and other forms of lending.

This video is about how monetary policy works in Canada. We have just seen that inflation has been lower, and inflation and real output growth have both been more stable, in the years following the 1991 adoption of inflation targeting than in the preceding decade. How does monetary policy work to accomplish these outcomes? At the heart of the Bank of Canada’s monetary policy is a commitment to maintain low and relatively stable inflation—in particular, to keep the annual rate of inflation close to 2 per cent. The Bank’s commitment is essential for influencing firms’ and households’ expectations of inflation. Faced with a shock that threatens to push inflation either above or below the inflation target, Canadian firms and households are confident that the Bank of Canada will act to bring inflation back to the 2 per cent target. This confidence in the Bank’s policies comes from the Bank’s past record of doing what it claimed it would do: keep inflation low and stable.

This video explains the relationship between the term structure of interest rates and future changes in inflation for Canada using a newly constructed par-value yield series. The main conclusion of the empirical work is that the slope of the nominal term structure from 1- to 5-year maturities is a reasonably good predictor of future changes in inflation over these horizons. This result is similar to that obtained for the United States and other countries.

Results for models that also include competing indicators of inflation suggest that the medium-term structure of interest rates contains unique information about future inflation. Although there is additional information about future changes in inflation in M2+, commodity prices, and the output gap, this does not affect the predictive content of the medium-term structure.

This videos describes the other important element of Canada’s monetary policy framework. It is a flexible exchange rate. A floating Canadian dollar allows the Bank to pursue an independent monetary policy that is best suited to Canada’s economic circumstances and is focused on achieving the inflation target. Movements in the exchange rate also provide a “buffer,” helping our economy to absorb and adjust to external and internal shocks.
