Hi Ma’am! This is Kenji!!!

Today is nov 15, 2017 and yesterday on our research class. We were asked who was our Inspiration. Walay duha2 we answered “Maam Cabinta!!”
All of my classmates made an aweeee sound and that shows that we will really miss you in school. I just want to say Ma’am that I really learned from you. A LOT!!! we will miss that UP UP UP, DOWN DOWN DOWN, PARASYMPATHETIC? or SYMPATHETIC? that drug study that ensures us that we will recall our lessons so that we may apply it in the area. Your rolling of eyes and “Whatever” that indicates that we must not do the obvious or do the stupidest thing in the area and Ma’am we will really miss you. You were there to help us in our NOVICE moments as a Student nurse. You helped us grow maam. For 3 years you handled us and for that years we were attached to you. You are a very good nurse , teacher , a professional and mentor maam. But even if you are a professional, I know that the opportunities there will be for the best for you. I know that there will be more people that needs your help more than we do. You are the best maam. And we will surely treasure our knowledge , learnings and memories from you. You were the CI I feared the most in my first year as a nursing student, intimidating mn jud ka maam. Hehe. But then, you became my teacher in 2nd year. You give the best lectures, ma'am! Wa'y pabor pabor! Malingaw jud ko basta ikaw mu discuss and I'm pretty sure I am not the only one. :) Last semester was the first time na na-under ko sa imo sa duty, ma'am. At first, nahadlok ko ug ayo kay mao lagi, hadlok daw ka ana sila especially when it comes sa drug study. Little did I know, dili man diay kay luckily, maka-answer rmn pud ko sa imong questions hehehehehehehe. Anyhow... you were the CI that made all of us feel that we are capable, that kaya namo tanan. You give us the confidence that we need especially when ubanan mi nimo mg do ug procedure sa ward. Ma'am, thank you kaayo. Although the time we have spent together was so little, you have shared much to me. Thank you for believing in me when I doubted myself. Thank you for molding us the way we are today. Hello, Ma'am!!! I believe that the time has come for you to pursue greater things. I admit, you having to resign was such a big loss for XUCN but we totally understand and we can't hold you back because each one of us has dreams and aspirations in life, and this happen to be yours. YOU DESERVE IT. Don't worry, Maam because we are still in good hands with all the CIs here. For sure, our memories with you will always be remarkable and memorable. I always look up to you and you will always be my role model in becoming a nurse that's competent and professional in any way. You are a very down-to-earth person. You never failed to remind us to always do our best in school and to never take things for granted because opportunity knocks only once. You always made sure we are well physically, mentally, and academically, and we couldn't ask for more. HI MAAM! Maaaaaam, to be honest, you were one of the smartest teacher ever para sako. Gaka amaze jud ko kay kabalo ka sa mga rationale sa tanan butang related sa medical & clinical topics, labi nanang mga disease/illness nga into molecular level jud nimo pagka explain. Whenever i make my concept map, I always copied your style jud and practiced your motto nga "ALWAYS ASK WHY". Thank you kaayo ana and for being an inspiration and a wonderful influence/model on how to be an efficient nurse (puhon mayong lawas). Sorry pud maam kay cge nalang kog ka anxious sa imong atubangan. I don't know why pero usahay gaka intimidate jud ko sa imo HEHEHEHE (na ulaw nako haha) whenever gani nga mag perform nakog something in front nimo mapa demo pana og procedures or mag recite og stuffs one-on-one, kabalo jud ko nga kabalo naka nga it's time na murag mag malfunction na dayon ko (HAHAHAHAHA parang robot lang ang peg). Sorry jud kaayo ana maam, tas kabalo ka maam, maka matikod man akong dutymates ana then ila dayon ta gina pares2 HAHAHAHAHA but even though ingana, believe me maam, you had left something in me that I will treasure throughout my journey in life and that is to practice again and again on how to become the best version of my self. By that, I mean nga mugawas ko sakong shell and try to overcome my fears/anxiousness labi najud sa clinical area. I can say, you really did had a great impact sako because you made me realize that I should always try to prove my self (in a good way) to others and especially to my self pud. That I can be better and my mistakes were never to regret for because those are learnings that will give me the wisdom to whatever things I am doing. Basta maam oi, salamat jud... WOH! so serious na kaayo and deep HAHAHAHAHA! Anyway, dili nata magka churchmates :( pero cge lang, basin diay puhon pag mag simba ko, didto taka makita again :D speaking of church, ako e share sa imo akong pinaka favorite nga topic so far, "Hupomeno" ( to preserve: under misfortunes and trials to hold fast to one's faith in Christ). Maam Cabs, sa journey nimo sa life, in days of hardships & trials, always stick with Him and never forget to pray because He listens and works in a very odd but fantastic way. Dearest Maam Cabinta, from the moment I stepped on my journey as a nursing student, you were the very first clinical instructor that taught me to be confident and to unleash myself in the clinical practice considering that you were my first CI on my first every duty at NMMC. To be honest, i was really scared of you maam kay abi nakog strikta jud kayka 😂 and yet the moment you opened the doors of experience for me I realized that I want to be like you. You. I want to be inspired by others just like you maam. The last lesson you left me during our extension duty was when you said to me na I am worth it and it really struck me. You were not just a clinical instructor to us but you were also a mother. You treated us as if we are your own children. To be honest, you are one of the clinical instructors that I really look up to. Everything about you is just so admirable. Indeed, words can’t explain how grateful I am to have known such a great and wonderful CI. You were with us from the very start and I was really hoping that you would be with us until the end of this journey. This may be sad on our part, but still, we are truly happy for you. Ma'am, I just want to thank you for all the knowledge and lessons that you've imparted. You were my very first clinical instructor sa NMMC OB Ward and up until nag3rd year nalang, you were still there. Thank you for handling us well, ma'am. I really learned a lot from you sa 3 years nato nga paguban. I still remember atong Pharmacology na subject which everyone finds complicated but you really tried your best to make it simple just for everyone to understand and no doubt, we really did. Gahope gyud ko always nga ikaw among CI sa Pharma para makasabot lang ko always. Hahahaha but anyway... I am just so happy that you'll be entering a new chapter in your life. I just wish you all the best for what's ahead Ma'am because you truly deserve everything good in this life. I will surely miss all the duty days nga mukalit raka'g ask saako nga... "hilom lagi ka karon?" Didto gyud nako naprove nga sabaan gyud diay ko na person. Hahaha. Thank you Ma'am for being with us for 3 years and making those years worthwhile. Hello ma’am! I have been lucky to be under your class since second sem of first year. And sukad capping, you have always been one of my CIs for a rotation. Sa tanan CI ma’am, ikaw gyud ang pinakataas akong paglantaw. Amazed kay ko sa imong ginashare na experiences every discussion ug maklaro pud namo nga you really love what you’re doing kay you’re always so passionate. Sa tanan kasaba nimo sa amo ma’am, thank you kay namotivate ko nimo magtarong hahaha sukad sa daghan bagsak sa Pharmacology ang midterm grades hantod sa first sem namo nga third year nami. Kada mangasaba ka ma’am feel gyud nako na ako imong ginapaigo perminti hahahaha. Hi ma'am!!! I guess I was lucky enough to be able to spend my extension duty hours with you. I didn't know that you'll be leaving this soon ma'am, not until all of my batch mates were talking about you leaving XUCN. I can still clearly recall the very first time that we had our lecture with you. You were full of energy that's radiating towards us and welcoming us to the path that we has chosen. I will never forget all the things that you were able to taught us since second year. I will proudly admit that you were one of the clinical instructor that I look up to. Thank you ma'am Cabinta for all the things that you did for us. For always encouraging us to go and set the world on fire as we chase our dreams. Thank you for not just being a clinical instructor but for also being that someone who will listen to the chikkas that we have and by giving me those advices that I will surely remember. I actually thought na you'll be with us till we graduate ma'am :< I still remember during my first year days when you and Sir Ubay-ubay came in the room for our TFN class, how you were so strict and nice at the same time, sa RD on medication administration, how you told me that you know i can perform better in nursing and how a little progress each day will add up to big results, you were there to believe in us ma'am. And every lecture you had with us, I'm sure we learned a lot and i'll surely miss your examples ma'am kung mag lecture ka. Thank you kaayo ma'am for opening our minds and making us learn to ask that simple "why" in everything. Maam you never gave up on us, you gave it to us straight when it got challenging during the first semester and because of that all of us are here right now. Awkward kaayo ko maghimo ug letter ma'am so sorry nalang daan. During sa among research gipangutana mi kung kinsa among role model and ikaw akong una nahuna-huna.an ma'am. Hi Ma'am, I believe that this is just the beginning of an amazing journey that you will be taking, I also believe that your students will miss you (even from the time we 1st heard that you will be leaving the college) :( It saddens me to know ma'am that one of our finest and smartest teacher in the faculty will be leaving for good. BUT, I am happy and proud that even for the shortest time ma'am i was able to share some memories with you. Thank you for being one of the very passionate CIs I look up to and appreciate. I enjoy your classes a lot and you teach in a very fun and informative way that keeps the class enthusiastic and attentive. I haven't really built a close relationship with you the way I have with CIs I've been under in during duties but I believe the time I've spent listening to you in class is enough for me to say that you will do great things as a nurse. It may not change the world but it will change the life of every patient you encounter.

I'll never forget the things you told me katong nagsakay kos imo sakyanan ma'am and thank you so much for believing in me and motivating me to do my best always and to pursue what I really want. I'm so thankful that God gave us such a wonderful human being to teach us nursing, the college is really blessed to have you ma'am. Salute to one of the people who became my inspiration in my journey in Nursing. Ma'am Cabinta, you are who I aspire to be when I become a registered nurse one day. You are caring, genuine, loving, smart and beautiful both inside and out. You really made a great impact not only to myself but I know with certainty that you have left a mark to each and every one of us in our batch. I am very priveleged to have known you Ma'am and to have you not just as our clinical instructor but as our motherly figure and friend as well. I have learned so so so much from you. Even now when we discuss about something and remember that it came from you, it saddens our hearts because we know that we will truly miss you dearly Ma'am. We feel sad that you will be closing this chapter of your life but at the same time we are very happy for you and your family for another wonderful journey that God has set in your path. We are also happy with the fact that we too became a part of your life.
The incoming batch of nursing students wouldn't have the chance to meet you Ma'am but we will surely tell them about an amazing clinical instructor who made a great impact as to who we are as nursing students today and even as we become RNs.

I put off writing this message because I felt like doing so would make everything seem so final. But seeing you yesterday made me so happy and I realized that it might be time 😂

Thank you so much for everything. You are one of the reasons why I'm still able to sign my initials at the end of my nurse's notes. I've struggled with accepting this course and I'm still in the process, but getting to be under your instruction really made a difference. I don't think I've ever missed one of your lectures cause I knew that I'd be able to learn so much. I feel privileged that I was able to go on duty with you cause I was able to gain so much experience in an environment that was strict, but not unforgiving.

You probably don't remember this, but during OB ward at NMMC (2nd year, 1st sem) we got to chika about you moving to the US. I think that you were still processing your papers, that you were hoping for the best. And now, a few years later, you've made it! I'm so happy for you 💕

Being in a place far from everything that is familiar will be difficult. There will be times that you'll feel extremely homesick and question whether or not this decision was worth it. It is. There is so much opportunity and so much of the world that is waiting for you and your family because of it. Just remember to rely on God and your family... and find the closest Filipino store in your area because Starbucks is good, but Nescafe instant coffee is home.

I'll really miss seeing you in school, but I know I'll see you around ☺️ Thank you, and happy birthday! You deserve all the love that you put out into the world.

Hi maam! First of all i want to say thank you not only for the nursing related lessons you taught me but for all the life lessons as well. You have been one of my inspirations to do good in school and you have always amazed me because of how well you were able to turn an extremely complicated topic to an understandable one. Life's so full of fun and grate things with you. Hi Maam Cabinta!!! I still clearly remember my first encounter with you. Scary man to Maam uy but as I think of it karon, funny man diay japun sha. You were mad kay nagtalk me ni Andro while you were giving instructions during the prelims. At that moment nahadlok plus guilty pajud kay si Andro ang nakasaban and dili ako. Napuno gud og sorry akong baba ato nga time Maam haha Though my first encounter with you Maam was kind of scary, natabunan nato Maam with good,fun, and full of learnings nga memories. You have been a second mother to me najud Maam aand as a CI, dili lang nursing knowledge ang akong na learn from you but also life lessons. You have been an inspiration to not just my fellow nursing students but sa ako pud personally Maam. Duties with you are memorable and I will surely miss them and especially you Maam 🤗 I'll always have in mind Maam katong times na night shift ta and magkaon ta og buffalo wings gawas sa nmmc haha busog kaayo to na moments Maam. Hi ma'am! 💖 I've been wanting to write this to you for a while now but I wanted time because I don't think I would have been able to finish this letter without crying hahaha. I was so lucky to have run into you a few days ago in school cause I at least wanted to give you a hug before you left. Hehe. When Ma'am Mosanto asked us during research which CI we looked up to as a role model as a nurse we all screamed in unison, "Ma'am Cabinta!!!". I don't know if you know how much you have impacted our lives as student nurses. You truly are our inspiration and the US is gonna be so so lucky to have a wonderful, kind, hard working, intelligent, "snappy" and of course beautiful nurse like you. Being under you since first year waz scary and imtimidating, yes, but you gave us space to learn and explore and make mistakes. You encouraged us to he independent but still never failed to show how much you cared for us and that's something I will never forget (and your super difficult quizzes). 😂 Being able to work under you is a huge privelage and I'm so grateful for it. During duty I always dreaded your drug studies at first but you really have a way of making everything stick into our heads!!! Especially me, since I'm so forgetful hehe (I swear I know now why we have to take the temperature before and after we administer Paracetamol!!!) I learned so much from you, more than just the whys and the why nots in drugs and disease processes but in life as well ("So?? If he leaves you then don't wait for him to come back!", your words not mine) and I'll take all the learnings and procedures with me as I follow you back to the US!! You made me believe in myself when I felt so doubtful and stupid in Nursing. And you taught us that the only thing we need to do is read ahead lagi 😂 I hope you remember to bring an extra red pen during duty and that you'll never lose that "Whatever!!" way of dealing with things 😄 But jokes aside, I hope, pray and wish the best of luck for you and your family as you go to the US and I hope little Juris enjoys Disney Land!! Thank you for making our nursing life amazing with your clinical knowledge and fun lectures. Even though it's all work, it still feels like play because we were having a blast and learning something at the same time.

When you asked us what our goal was, even though we didn't say it out loud, our goal was to be like you.

Even though your drug study was intense (Shek's words) we learned a lot from your explanations and we really thank you for guiding us in the area.

We hope that you will continue to succeed in this new journey in Florida. Even though it's sad for us because you will not be able to be physically here when we graduate and will not be able to have more lectures and duty days with you, we are very happy and excited for you to follow your dreams.
