Signpost CC
Evidence, "for instance one time in the playground these older kids were making noises about me." (page 3) Reasoning, I think this is a CC because kids wouldn't be mean to a kid that they never met. My answer to the anchor question is, the kids think its easy to pick on someone who is different. I think that the literary element is, theme. I think the theme is don't judge a book by it's cover because Auggie is a very nice person but nobody goes near him because of his face.

Signpost WW
My evidence is, "you really are a wonder." (page 310) My reasoning is, I think this is a WW because his mom takes him aside to tell him something that will help him. My answer to the anchor question is, the lesson is always trust and believe your self because you can do anything. I think the literary element for this is theme, because its saying you can do anything as long as you believe in your self.

Chapter Christopher's House Page 8

Signpost AM
My evidence is, "Last spring we drove to Christopher's House and I heard mom talking to Christopher's mom about me going to school
"what are you talking about." (page 8) My reasoning is, I think this a AM because he just finds out that he needs to go to school and it catches him off guard. My answer to the anchor question is, it will change things because he will have to show his face to tons of other people. I think the literary element is character development, because he is going to a new school where people might make fun of him and that will change his emotions.

Chapters The Call and Carvel pages 135 and 136

Signpost MM
My evidence, it's not that he's a new kid it's that he's deformed."
"That's a terrible thing to say jack, you don't even know who he is!"
"Yeah, I do" I said because I knew the second she started talking about him that it was that kid named august. I remember seeing him for the first time in front of the carvel on Amesfort Avenue when I was about five or six (page 135-136). My reasoning is he hears the name august than it cuts right into the story and he remembers the first time he say his face. My answer to the anchor question is, my answer to the anchor question is it might be important because it makes Jack feel bad so he decides to show Auggie around the school and that's how they become friends. I think the literary element is character development because Jack will is opening up to people who will have trouble making friends.

Chapter Alien Page 265

Signpost AA
My evidence is, "what happened to face I didn't know we were watching Lord of the Rings tonight because I think found Gollum." (page 265) My reasoning is I think this is a AA because Auggie always gets bullied for his face and this is not the first time it happened. My answer to the anchor question is, the author might bring this up a lot is to show how hard it is to interact with others when your different from everybody else. I think the literary element is character development, because he hates himself even more every time someone calls him out or makes fun of him.

Signpost TQ
My evidence is, "There's a boy who's starting middle school and Mr Tushman would like you to show him around a bit."
"Like hang out with him."
"Exactly,"
"he called it being a welcome buddy Mr Tushman said he would explain more when you come to school next week but the kid has a facial dysfunction."
"School doesn't start until September! Do i have too." My reasoning is if he says know its not the right thing to do and Mr Tushman will be disappointed, but if says yes he could be made fun of for being with a kid who has a weird face. My answer to the anchor question is, The question makes wonder if jack will choose the right thing or the thing that will get him more respect. I think the literary element is internal conflict, because he's choosing if he should the right thing or if he should be made fun of.
