my journey through the quarter of beginning

this is what i learned from the lessons we took in quarter 1. the first one is the research process—here, we identify and develop the topic that we are focusing on. it also encompasses knowledge of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, where the primary source is the most direct evidence of a time or event, the secondary source involves the acquisition, generalization, or synthesis of the primary sources, and the tertiary source is derived from both primary and secondary sources. now, let‘s proceed to the news article—this is a report based on recent events. Here, i also learned the essential elements necessary to construct a news report, and based on what i remember, this is referred to as base info. these encompass the questions—what, where, when, who, and why. additionally, i learned what constitutes newsworthy content, and in the news articles we examined, the inverted pyramid structure is also included—where the information at the pinnacle of the inverted triangle is the most significant, in the middle are the supporting details, and at the end is the ancillary information or the additional information. here, we also encounter what is called the angle—this is the principal idea of the news article. next is the concept of transcoding—this pertains to the transformation of one idea into another or the conversion of non-linear information into a linear format or non-linear to linear. to be candid, i encountered some difficulties with this notion because i didn't fully grasp it at first. however, when i focused and meticulously analyzed every detail that my teacher elucidated, i was able to comprehend it. the subsequent lesson i learned was appraising the unity of plot, setting, and characterization in a material viewed to achieve the writer's intent or purpose, which covered the understanding of the characters—anything that is personified is a character; settings—the temporal and spatial context of the story; exposition—the commencement of the narrative; plot—the arrangement of events; rising action—where the complications of the story begin to unfold; climax—where the most exhilarating part of the story transpires; falling action—where the main character begins to confront the consequences; and resolution—the ending of the story. here, i also learned the tale of Dante's Inferno, where the setting of the story is the nine circles of hell. Now, let’s dwell on employing, analyzing, and listening in problem solving—here I learned how we can analyze what the speaker is saying, and here I also learned how to divide the difficult questions into separate parts to get to the core, and I also learned the stages of listening, where stage 1—receiving, stage 2—understanding, stage 3—remembering, stage 4—evaluating, and stage 5—responding. now, let's go to the last one that we discussed based on what I remembered—evaluating and making judgments. in this topic, i really had a hard time because i didn't fully understand anything; i didn't listen during those days because the examination was coming up, so i didn't pay attention to it anymore.

What i learned in my first quarter journey is about types of sources which is primary - produced by a person who has an experience or ideas , secondary - created by people who were not present , and tertiary- which is combined primary and secondary sources . I also learned to know important information by asking questions using what , when , who , where , how , and why. Also about news and pews and analytical listening ,this is listening to the speaker's message but does not only mean understanding what the other person is saying ,but also being able to divide difficult questions into seperate parts. I also learned in English the story of dante inferno's , here i enjoyed the movie more and i learned a lot here . Our teacher taught us the 9 circles of hell and what can be seen here. Lastly about evaluating and making judgments ,or in making judgements it is necessary that evaluates form the sense of objectivity. About the fact that i had a hard time in lesson is about news and pews , i didn't understand very well.

MY ENGLISH JOURNEY

My most favorite lesson, was Dante's Inferno. I know, it's a basic movie, but the movie has something that I can't quite named and I took interested in it. The idea of the different levels of hell, the punishments, the symbolism and the sacrifices that Dante faced inside the levels of hell for his beloved wife. That made me question myself, does a man like dante really exists?

Now, the lesson I need to go over again? That's gotta be analytical listening. I mean, I'm not saying I'm bad at listening, but I really get distracted sometimes. I'm more of a "listening than explaining it" kind of that But analytical listening is about really paying attention to the details, picking up on subtle cues, and understanding the why behind what someone is saying. It was hard for me to learned it especially when I don't really like interacting with others, maybe I interact with some of my friends but it's not really the same as u interact with someone ur comfortable with.

So, yeah, that's my two cents. Dante's Inferno really catches my attention to a whole new world of thought, and analytical listening is something I need to work on. It's all about growing, right? And I guess I can make it through this.

Did I Really Learn Anything?: A Reflection on My Learning Experience

Did I really learn anything? It's a question I've been asking myself a lot lately, especially as this quarter comes to a close. One of the most valuable things I learned this quarter was how to effectively use information, or rather, how to determine what information is actually reliable. I gained a strong understanding of how to identify primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, which will be helpful if i will ever do some research.

Furthermore, I also learned the importance of employing analytical listening, which has helped me to better understand complicated ideas and information. During our English class discussion, I had a hard time understanding some of the ideas. But by employing analytical listening, I could break the information down into smaller pieces, which made it easier to understand and remember. This skill has also been really helpful in my everyday life, letting me have better conversations and understand different perspectives.

However, while I've grasped many of the lessons, there are a few I need to revisit, particularly transcoding non-linear text to linear. I'm not sure I feel confident enough to do it on my own yet. It's tough for me to explain things clearly and concisely in writing. I need to practice more to get better at summarizing information and putting it into my own words. I recently tried to transcribe a pictograph, and I found myself struggling to capture the key points in a way that was both accurate and engaging. I realized that I need to work on understanding how to translate visual information into written language in a way that makes sense to others.

So, did I really learn anything? The answer is a resounding yes. This quarter has been a valuable experience that has equipped me with new skills and a deeper understanding of myself as a learner. While I still have much to learn, I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to grow and develop.

English is the second subject that I don't like. Why? Because I'm not good at speaking English and understanding English topics. In the first quarter, I thought it would be hard for me to understand the lessons, but my expectations were very far from reality. The lessons in English include the story of Dante's Inferno, the types of sources like primary, secondary, and tertiary, different types of graphic organizers, and identifying linear and non-linear text. My teacher discussed a lot of topics, but the lessons that I've mentioned are the easiest for me to understand quickly. I know the rest of the lessons, but not as much. Still, I'm impressed because I know some of the lessons quickly. I think it's because my teacher is good at teaching. Maybe it's because he's a perfectionist, but I'm still impressed because of his teaching skills. I realize that English subject is easy to learn and sometimes it's fun. I hope next quarter it will be easier and more fun to understand the lessons from the English subject.

MY JOURNEY OF LEARNING THROUGHOUT THE FIRST QUARTER:

These are my learnings from what we've discussed during the first quarter, the first lesson we talked about is types of sources—these are the sources we rely on for gathering information for our own understanding. There are three categories of sources, the first is Primary Sources—this has the original evidence or in other words, direct evidence on a particular event or situation. The second category is Secondary Sources—this analyzes or interprets the primary sources. And the last category is Tertiary Sources—this source provides summaries or overviews of information. The next lesson we talked about is the News Article, I honestly had a hard time understanding this topic, i was a little bit confused about determining the questions; what, where, when, who, and why—but i still managed to understand it and answer the activities correctly by using a technique or method I've created to understand furthermore this lesson. The next lesson we've discussed is Linear and Non-linear Text—from this topic, I've realized that text can be categorized in two different ways, which is Linear Text and Non-linear Text. In Linear Text—it follows a sequential order and unfolds information in a step-by-step manner, while in Non-Linear Text—you could see hypertext documents and different kinds of charts here; it also allows the readers to navigate information in a more interactive way. I also encountered some difficulties in transcoding—which talks about the conversion of Non-Linear Text to Linear text format. Proceeding to the next lesson—in this lesson, we talked about the Elements of the Story—i didn't have a hard time analyzing and understanding this topic because this is discussed before in my elementary days. About this topic—these are powerful tools for conveying information and engaging the audiences. The elements are; Characters—who are the actors or the individuals who act in the story, Plot—which refers to the sequence of events (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution) Setting—where or what time did the story happen and lastly Conflict—this is where you analyze the problems/conflicts happened in the story. To enhance our learning through this topic—our adviser told us to watch the movie Dante's Inferno and after watching it, try to determine the elements of the story in that movie. In the next topic, we discussed Analytical Listening—which analyzed the speaker's message or what they said, this requires paying attention to both verbal and nonverbal cues, considering the speaker's tone, body language, and the context. It also involves identifying the speaker's purpose, understanding their perspective, and evaluating the validity of their arguments. To be honest, this is the hardest topic we've discussed in the first quarter, why? because you could easily distract me which causes me to have a hard time analyzing the speaker's message. And the last lesson is Evaluating and Making Judgements—this lesson is about crucial thinking, evaluating information and forming judgements is a crucial skill in navigating the information age. This involves considering the source's credibility, identifying biases, analyzing evidence , and assessing the logic of arguments. I also had a hard time understanding this topic.

In conclusion, the lessons i learned the most are types of sources, news articles (i know i mentioned that I had a hard time understanding this lesson but—when I tried to analyze the news article, i had so much fun and didn't know it was easy but a little bit confusing sometimes), and elements of the story. And the lessons i have to go over again are linear and non-linear text, analytical listening and lastly, evaluating and making judgements. This is all about learning and enhancing our skills though, developing a discerning eye for information is a lifelong journey.

The first thing I learned in this subject is primary source, secondary source, and tertiary source. The meaning of Primary Source is the original documents or piece of evidence created during the time under study, while the Secondary Source is a document or recording that analyzes, interprets, or summarizes information from primary sources, then there’s Tertiary source, it’s a type of information source that summarizes or complies primary and secondary sources. While learning their meanings it’s hard but as time goes by I’m slowly understanding it, I also understand it more because of how the teacher teaches. Then the second thing I learned is News vs Pews, News is an information about current events, developments, or happenings that is reported through various media outlets, and because of the meaning I kinda understand how to make News and stories. The third thing I learned is Linear and Non-linear, I studied what their meanings are and here’s what I understand about the meanings, from what I understand about Linear it refers to a straightforward and sequential way of presenting information or ideas, while the Non-Linear typically refers to narratives or texts that don’t follow a straightforward, chronological structure. And lastly Dante’s Inferno, the thing I learned about this is Dante’s journey to through hell, guided by Virgil. The work explores theme of sin, justice, and redemption, illustrating a structured vision of the afterlife. Dante fought every monster’s in hell just to save Beatrice not knowing it was his fault why Beatrice being taken by Lucifer, when he realized it his fault he prayed to god, prayed for his forgiveness, he accepted his sin then god forgave him.

To be honest i think i learned a lot this quarter because i do understand almost all the topics it's just that i forgot them easily because of my short term memory.

But even though i have short term memory i learned and understand the most is, the sources of information which is divided into three types and that is the Primary Sources, Secondary Sources, and Tertiary Sources. Textual Aids In Understanding Text is also one of the topic i understand the most because it's not that hard to remember what diagram/chart to use into a given texts. Plots, Settings, and Characterization is also easy because that topic is discussed since elementary. Analytical Listening In Problem Solving is the topic I need to go over again, its a topic new to me, it has too many stages for me, I'm having a hard time remembering and familiarazing their sequence/order.
Things we discussed in English that were able to reach my mind to lock inside for the first quarter and those I had difficulty to understand.

My experience on our English subject during this first quarter is significant. My learnings have become more interesting with the help of my resourceful teacher. I've learned a lot and of course there are still things I didn't understand that much like the tertiary. This one really makes me confused and I can't understand it very well unlike the primary and secondary sources that are easier for me to understand. The elements of the story, the topic that I am able to understand too because our teacher discussed this with a very interesting story, that is the story of Dante's Inferno. I also understand the ways on how to analyze non linear texts and even convert them into linear text or vice versa. While the news articles, I had difficulty with this. I don't know why, but maybe because I wasn't able to pay much attention when our teacher discussed this. And because of that, my group didn't get high points on that particular group activity. To be real, I think these are the only things we discussed that I can still remember right now because I'm having a hard time remembering my past learnings even though I was able to participate enough. I'm also glad that our teacher makes our discussion more interesting so I am still able to learn a lot during those times even though I wasn't that good at English.

Hi I'm ANGEL LOUCEL G. FERRER

these are my experiences in my first quarter in english

This first quarter in English has been a whirlwind of learning! We explored different types of sources, which opened my eyes to the wide range of information available. I'm now more aware of the importance of checking the credibility of sources to avoid falling for misinformation. Learning how to identify good news stories has been a crucial skill too, helping me become a smarter consumer of information. I'm also starting to grasp the difference between linear and non-linear texts, which makes understanding various types of writing easier.

My lovely teacher Sir Rilo storytelling of Dante's Inferno was truly captivating. His passion for the story made it come alive, and I found myself drawn into the world of the Inferno. I'm especially grateful for his patience in explaining the difference between news and opinion pieces. It's still a bit tricky for me, but I'm determined to master it.

Overall, this first quarter has been a valuable learning experience, thanks to Sir Rilo's guidance. I'm excited to see what new adventures in English await us in the next quarter!

in this quarter i have learned about type of sources like primary, secondary and tertiary, and also learn about each of their meanings and examples. it felt like trying to untangle a giant ball of yarn! but then i realized that it's kind of like a detective story. you start with original clues PRIMARY SOURCES, then you look at what other people have said about those clues SECONDARY SOURCES, and finally, you get a big picture view from the experts TERTIARY SOURCES. and my favorite lesson in first quarter is the “DANTE'S INFERNO STORY” the story was so intense and captivating i couldn't put it down! i love how dante's journey through provoking. it made me think about the choices we make in life and their consequences.

analytical listening is another challenge for me. it's like trying to decode a secret message, but with sounds instead of words. i'm still working on it, but i'm starting to understand how to pay attention to the tone of voice, the rhythm of speech, and the unspoken messages behind the words.

Overall, this first quarter has been a mix of challenges and triumphs. i've learned a lot, vote academically and personally, and i am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings.

As the time passes by, the first quarter has finally come to an end. It was a tough and long journey, yet it was full of joy and new knowledge that is very useful to me. speaking of new knowledge, here are the things I discovered throughout the first quarter of our English subject;

first, I learned about linear and non-linear text. This is the topic that I enjoy the most because for me it is fun to gather data and transform it to either non-linear or linear text, and it's also very helpful to me as a student because using linear and non-linear text I will be able to comprehend and analyze the given data or topic more. I also learned about primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, which helps me to know and understand what type of sources I'm consuming and if they're reliable or not, and as a someone who always stays on the internet this knowledge is highly needed. and then the elements of a story. In this topic, I've learned that there's so much more in reading stories that reading stories isn't just reading those texts, because in order to really understand what you're reading, you should understand first the elements of it to help you evaluate the information in the story. And lastly, analytical listening. This topic is very interesting as it helps you to really understand what the speaker wants to say or the important information in the data. However, I wish to hear and learn more about this topic, as I find it difficult to understand, especially the components of it.

Overall, it was a fun journey. I learned many things, and despite the struggles, I managed to push it through. I wish to learn more about this subject in this second quarter.

The second lesson that Sir Dumo taught us is about the news and pews. News is about the current events, developments, etc. The next topic that was discussed with us is linear and non-linear text. It's not hard to examine the topic for me, and it's my favorite lesson because I learned it so easily. The next lesson is the elements of the story. I didn't quite understand this topic because it's hard for me to familiarize myself with which one is setting, conflict, and the climax. We also discussed the Dante's Inferno movie, which is very interesting to watch.

I think this is the lessons that i learned, thank you so much for reading my reflection🤍

Throughout my journey in the first quarter, I have learned various lessons that will undoubtedly come in handy in the future. These lessons have helped improve my knowledge in several areas, such as essay writing and much more. While I enjoyed listening and learning, one lesson in particular stood out to me the most, and that was Dante’s Inferno.

Watching Dante’s Inferno was quite the experience, as it delves into powerful themes such as sin and its consequences. The movie explores the nature of sin and its profound impact on the soul. Dante categorizes sins from lesser to greater severity, demonstrating how different types of sin progressively degrade the soul. Additionally, the film features political and religious critiques. Dante uses the characters he encounters to comment on political figures and religious corruption during his time, critiquing both the Church and the state.

Beyond its rich themes, Dante’s Inferno kept me intrigued with its epic fight scenes, adding an element of excitement to the deeper messages. It was an incredibly engaging movie.

To sum up everything that has been stated so far, the first quarter was a fun experience, and it had me look forward to more lessons in the future.

Those days were the best, we learned from the best teacher there is, the days we went through is hard, we have to "answer this, answer that" just to get through it, but that's not the only thing that gets us here! It's also because of what we have learned from our teacher. The days where we learned about primary, secondary and even tertiary sources, these sources are to provide knowledge or data which helped me understand one information. One of the lessons that I have adapted are analytical listening, this topic have made me gained sense of knowledge, The day where I have learned about analytical listening I have been more cautious about what to say whenever I'm in a conversation and I now know how to read a room and not judge so easily or fast about someone. The topic that I'm about to say are one of my most favorite topic in our first quarter English "linear to non-linear, non-linear to linear", this topic is one of the reason why I got motivated to learn, as a person who sometimes like to write, this topic really made me joy! I'm sure I have not said all the topic that are teacher have taught us, but I can assure you I have also learned those, I just shared those topics that I have learned the most!

So is this really the end?....of course not i still have a lot of learning days to get through and no matter how hard it is! I will always get through it, just like the first challenge!

my experience in 1st quarter about english I was able to explore different lessons, just like different types of sources, there are three types of sources, one is primary sources, the second is secondary sources and the third is tertiary sources to be honest I don't really understand tertiary sources because maybe I didn't listen much while Sir Dumo discussed, I can't recite much here because I had a bit of a hard time with the tertiary part but still I understand it little by little. Another thing I learned is the different types of graphs like bar graphs, pie graphs and so on. It's not that easy in other lessons, so I had a bit of a hard time understanding it, like the one in Dante's Inferno, at first I didn't understand him very well, maybe because I didn't finish the video, but when I finished it and Sir Dumo discussed it, I understood him a little bit. This is about the various sins that can bring you to hell, such as aborting babies who don't know anything about the world, being greedy, being a story maker, being a fraud and so on. I don't remember much about the last lessons. Our adviser, Sir Irlo Dumo, is good at teaching, and I understand most of what he discusses, the only thing I have a hard time with is because I have been absent a lot and miss some lessons, so I sometimes have a hard time understanding others. This is all I remember and learned as well as the lessons I didn't get in the 1st quarter of the English subject.

My first quarter English10 learnings and experience were mind-blowing. It is because of our magnificent teacher, Sir Irlo Dumo. I've learned a lot of things from him. The first one he discusses is all about the Three Types of Sources of Information, which are the primary sources, secondary sources, and tertiary sources. He delivers it to us clearly and mindfully. The second one he discusses with us is a news article, which is what the information is in the news using 6W's, and he also taught us how to write a news article and a news gathering. The third one is the transforming non-linear text to linear text. He told us what the various types of graphs are. The fourth one he discusses about the elements of the story: characters, exposure, plot, climax, falling action, and resolution. He told us to watch "Dante's Inferno," which is the exciting part for me because the movie was a really good movie, and Sir Dumo discussed with us clearly the flow of the story. The fifth one is that he discusses the types of information sources and analytical. All of it was discussed by Sir Irlo Dumo. What are the lessons I didn't really understand, or what I need to be clear about, are the tertiary sources? I think the reason why I didn't understand it is because I didn't listen to the discussion and I did not focus on the discussion, My solution for this is i must always be focus to the discussion i need to be better in second quarter. Sir Irlo Dumo discussed all of these topics, and he delivered them clearly to us. He made the first quarter exciting because of the funny jokes he had while discussing, so the class is not boring. Sir Irlo Dumo was a magnificent teacher!.

Gagarino, Rrean Joy A.

there are easy and difficult topics for me and let's find out. first, the primary, secondary and tertiary. to be honest, I didn't have a hard time understanding this topic because the topic was easy for me and our teacher, sir irlo, teaches well and clearly and he doesn't rush us to understand the topic but he gives examples that we quickly understandable. second, is the linear and non linear here I had a hard time because I was a little confused but to be honest I have a little more to learn about it and I'm sure next time I will understand it better. and one of my favorite topics is the elements of the story because as a student who loves to read I can immediately understand the story I am reading. and analytical listening which is also one of my favorite topics because it's amazing what you can learn from analytical listening because by listening the information you can get and know can be correct. and to be honest, I'm really having a hard time especially speaking English because I'm not very good at it, especially when impromptu, but thanks to sir irlo because he allows us to answer in Filipino during the recitation and he doesn't let us be without understand what he is teaching us.

English reflection: a journey of growth and understanding

As the first quarter comes to close I want to take a moment to share the valuable lessons i have learned in this subject.

I first learned about primary and secondary sources. A primary source is written by someone who witnessed the event, such as interviews, music, photographs, letters, or songs. Secondary sources, on the other hand, are developed by someone who is not there or experienced, relies on other information, and is deprived of primary sources. Examples include dictionaries, textbooks, biographies, and book reviews.

It taught me how to tell if a source is primary or secondary, which attracted my interest because understanding the differences between the two impacted my perspective on information I obtained or came across.

The second lesson that made my learning experience more enjoyable was the transcoding of linear text to non-linear text and vice versa. it basically mean changing from one idea to another idea, firstly you need to analyze the linear or the non linear and get the main idea, lastly next extract necessary information,

we did a activity where we need to transcode a non linear to linear text, I find it difficult, and I struggled with how to do it; it was quite a challenge in my experience because I had to analyze the non-linear and include every single important detail; the difficult part is determining which details are required in transcoding to linear text, but in the end I understood and had a very enjoyable experience.

The lesson that intrigued my interest the most was analytical listening; it was not only useful for my studies but also in my daily lives; it helped me develop a new perspective way of communicating, making me more aware of my words and those I talked to; and in terms of using it in my studies, it helped me understand the flow of the story and the message behind the animated movie Dante's Inferno, how, when, what, and why it happened.

I learned new and wonderful things about this subject, but there are still some that I am struggling to grasp, like what stories are newsworthy, how to gather news reports, and evaluating and making judgments. It frustrates me not to understand these particular subjects because I know that gaining this information will not only enhance my knowledge but also improve my professional and personal life.

Overall, I had an excellent learning experience.

Although I've had a lot of fun learning, I'm still not satisfied. It's not only sparked my interest in learning more, but it's also made me need new challenges that stimulate my creative mind and expand my understanding of this subject

Doing more activities to help me enhance my skills will benefit me not only as a student, but also as a person who aims to work in communication.

I'm hoping that the approaching quarter will provide me with valuable knowledge and an unforgettable learning experience.

First quarter has been a long journey for us , full of knowledge , excitement , happiness and challenges where it measures our capabilities, patience, and strength but I know all the hardworks and sleepless nights will be worth it. As our 1st quarter ends it leaves us a valuable learnings that we can use as we continue our journey , like what i have learned in our English subjects about the textual aids where it provides graphic presentation of words and numbers. It also have 2 types of text , Linear and non linear text where in a non linear text it has a visual aids like for example Venn diagram , process chart and others. I also learned about the Plot diagram , the characters , the plot twist , about climax and others. All the lesson we have in our first quarter plays an important role to develop my knowledge and to grow , and that's all. I am Cyros Dexter A. Sangil from Grade 10 GAIA and i will cherish those moments i have in my 1st quarter and will be forever thankful to those person's who help me in the entire quarter like my classmate's , friends , and especially to my teacher.

Vincit Omnia Veritas - The Cycle

To be frank, I had no idea what was coming. Is it related to grammar? Perhaps, it's about speech? I was completely clueless, empty like a void. But that's what made seeking knowledge fun, right? Truth conquers all, after all.

The chapter began, I was asking myself if I can sustain the upcoming lessons. I was hoping that it would be no struggle.

For the first week, we talked about the Types of Sources. If I recall correctly it was already discussed back in G8. Although with that being a factor, I still don't remember anything regarding that lesson. The only thing in mind was the definition of Primary and Secondary sources, albeit I have no utter idea on how to determine a document as such.

What made it worse is that later on, it was revealed that there is another type of source, that being Tertiary. As of typing this, I completely forgot the definition of Tertiary source, I think it's a combination of the two? I don't remember. During the time it was discussed, my mind was overwhelmed with other stuffs. Combine it with the fact that I'm near sighted, makes it so bad.

Well, that's one lesson to look back.

Time passed, a new period is up that along comes a new lesson.

If I were to be asked, this is no doubt my most favorite among all. Non Linear and Linear texts.

I grew up with a passion for drawing. Constructing, illustrating those that my mind conceives, which is also a reason for my interest. Once I heard the word " Graph " my neurons activated. From that moment I knew that this would be my favorite lesson for the quarter, and it actually is. It takes me back to the days where I'd spend my time, drawing all day.

The conversion part was fun too! That's what made this lesson the most intriguing for me. Observing the graph, the essay and then transcribing it to it's opposition opened a lot of ideas for me to explore. My remedial activity for Week 3 asked me to make a story map for any movies in mind. As I was wandering around, babbling for how I will begin I thought of creating it something similar to a Comic Style. In the end, it was rushed. I hoped I could've done it better, though.

Generally, I really like this lesson. I managed to synthesize my own personal likings to an activity, while also expanding my forte.

Midway this chapter, Sir Irlo told us to watch " Dantes Inferno ". The name is very... familiar, and then it struck me " Oh right, that's what you call the stages of Hell ". I found it coincidental because days prior, I was just researching stuffs that are related to Sins and the Archangels. I know that it would be one hell of a ride, so I hopped in, seatbelts tight, and watched the movie.

While watching the movie, I found myself in a discomfort state. I don't know how to properly explain it, it feels like my lungs are being compressed, it feels like someone was watching me. I was trembling, down the core. I also feel a bit lonely, which I was during that time. No one was home. Everyone was at work, so it was just me, sitting, watching the chaos unfold.

As a kid, I always have been terrified of Hell. It's stages, and the idea of eternity makes me shiver. I don't wanna spend days, weeks, or an uncountable amount to a place where torment are established every seconds.

While re-evaluating the movie, I learned an important lesson, that everyone has a sin, but let us confess, turn from it and have it be a lesson to never repeat.

This chapter's lesson improved my overall comprehension and literature. I think for the most part, I understood a portion of the following lessons, although there are still some of which I don't recall. If I have the spare time, I'd research those missed for a better understanding.

I will continue my journey from here, giving all that I can as the cycle continues, and new knowledge are acquired. For the latter I will be following my ideals, in hopes that it will make me grow.

I'm thrilled for what the future awaits.

Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you

English, Have I learned anything from you?

If I’m being honest, English is one of the subjects that I’m not a fan of, because I’m not good at English—especially in grammar—and sometimes I struggle to understand it. At the outset, I was wondering if it would be hard for me to understand what lessons would be discussed by our adviser—yet‚ even though I’m not good at it‚ I’m still trying my best to understand all of those lessons that have been discussed—if I didn't, it would be tough for me—I’ve been asking myself, Did I actually learn anything from the lessons that have been discussed? Was there a lesson that I really struggled with?

I shall commence with the lessons I have acquired most, which are the different types of sources—the primary, secondary, and tertiary sources. The first is primary sources—primary sources are original materials that provide direct information about the topic, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, diaries, etc. The second one is secondary sources—secondary sources are information about topics taken from primary sources, providing insights, such as textbooks, journal articles, reports, etc. And the last one, tertiary sources—tertiary sources provide an analysis of information from primary and secondary sources, such as an encyclopedia, dictionary, research, etc. The next lesson is the news articles. Honestly, I’m a little bit confused about how to determine the questions—what, where, who, when, why, and so what—but I found a way to understand them clearly by researching them. The next topic is about linear text and non-linear text. Linear text is a type of text that presents information in a sequential order—it needs to read the text from beginning to end to understand the whole message, while non-linear text is the type of text that presents information based on different symbols, signs, or charts—a way of presenting information for people in a more interactive way. The next lesson is the elements of the story. This topic helped me identify the elements of the story and how to recognize them better. These are the elements: characters, who are the actors in the story. Setting—where or what time the story happens. The plot refers to the sequence of events, which are the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution—I honestly had a hard time understanding this and was a bit confused, but somehow I managed to understand it a little. Understanding, lastly, the conflict—where you analyze what the problems are in the story. To understand this more, Sir Irlo told us to watch the ‘Dantes Inferno’ for us to determine the elements of the story in the movie. I also had a hard time doing this activity; that’s why my answers are just short, and I'm not sure. And the next lesson that has been discussed is analytical listening, which is analyzing the speaker’s message. It's not just about hearing what people say, but also about understanding the meaning and context of the message. It requires understanding the emotion and tone of speech, identifying their ideas and arguments, and understanding their context. And the last lesson is Evaluating and Making Judgments. This lesson is about examining things, ideas, or situations to form our opinions—it can help us become better decision-makers. This was the hardest lesson for me because I’m still confused.

The lesson I struggle to understand is how to determine the questions in the news articles. The second one is the elements of the story—the plot, I mean, because it still confuses me even though I have managed to understand it a little. The last one is evaluating and making judgments; this still also confuses me.

My Journey of Knowledge: Insights from the First Quarter

This first quarter has been an eye-opening journey, providing me a deeper understanding about various topics. For me, the easiest lesson for this quarter is the different types of sources which is primary, secondary, and tertiary . This lesson taught me how to determine reliable sources. My favorite lesson will be the story “Dante’s Inferno”, this story is very interesting and it immediately caught my attention, it became more interesting because of our teacher—his ways of teaching is very fun.

One of the most impactful lessons that I’ve learn is the Analytical listening and its stages, because of this I realized that listening is not just about hearing words; it’s about understanding the message. By practicing this, I can better grasp discussions, picking up on important details. Evaluating and making judgements are very impactful, too. This skill is essential for both analyzing text and making opinions about various subjects. Evaluating involves assessing the credibility of the information and considering the context. This helps me to to learn how to ask important questions such as is this source reliable? and etc. By doing this I can better understand the material I encounter. Making judgements goes hand-in-hand with evaluations. It requires me to draw conclusions based on the information I’ve analyzed. This process has taught me to be more critical of my own thoughts and opinions, as well as those of others. I now understand that a well-formed judgment is backed by evidence and thoughtful consideration. I now feel more confident in my ability to make informed decisions. We also explored linear and non-linear text, to be honest, I did not understand this part well—it’s pretty hard for me at first but eventually I understand a bit. Linear text, such as essays, which is easy to follow. Non-linear text, such as websites—allows me to explore topics in more flexible way. Understanding both of this improves how I read and process information. I’ve learned about elements of a story and appraising the unity of the setting, plot, characterization and a material viewed to get the writer’s purpose. Learning about this helped me to analyze stories more. I also learned about different types of characters such as protagonist and antagonist, this added depth to my understanding of narratives.

Overall, this quarter is fun and it strengthened my ability in analyzing information and stories. With the help of our teacher—who makes his lessons fun to get our attention. I understand the lessons very well. I feel more prepared and confident to tackle future challenges and lessons.

In the first quarter of english subject, i learned about dantes inferno. and it was really hard for me. The story talks about sin and what happens when people do bad things. There are lots of levels of hell and each one has different punishments. It was confusing, and i didnt understand how bad each sin was but it made me think about whats right and wrong.

In dantes inferno sins go from not so bad to really bad, and each circle of hell has its own scary stuff. i got mixed up with all the characters and what dante thought about the church and poletics. but i saw that this ideas are important because they show how our action can change things.

even though i had a hard time with dantes inferno, i started to like it. The action scenes were cool and the way they showed hell was interesting. im the end, it helped me learn a lot. the first quarter was tough but fun and i can’t wait to learn a lot more.

Recently, I've been questioning myself if I've truly learned anything from English, as I'm honestly not fond of the language. English is kind of tough since I struggle, especially fixing my grammar. Writing an essay is what I hate the most. I also have short-term memory, so did I remember anything? Did I really learn anything? Let's find out and discuss the lesson I've learned and the lessons I struggled to understand.

For the first week, Sir Irlo discussed the types of sources, which are primary and secondary sources. This lesson is not as hard as I thought since Sir Irlo explained the definition of primary and secondary sources clearly, not until he mentioned the tertiary source, which is a type of source too. Based on my own understanding, a tertiary source is like a combination of primary and secondary sources.

The second lesson we discussed is identifying linear and non-linear text. To be honest, I got a bit confused about this topic. How am I going to identify linear and non-linear text? That's the question going through my mind. I did some research about the examples of linear and non-linear and asked my classmates and friends. I found out that non-linear uses different kinds of graphs or charts. We did transcode non-linear to linear; it's kind of confusing, but I enjoy it a little bit. And here's the lesson I struggle to understand: the elements of the story. I struggle to understand this because there were so many parts of the story, such as plot, characters, setting, etc. So for us to understand this topic, Sir Irlo told us to watch "Dante's Inferno" and gave us an activity where we identified who are the main characters and also did the story map. I enjoyed watching the movie since it was exciting but a little bit brutal, and I also enjoyed doing the story map, where I learned and identified the exposition, climax, and resolution of the story. Lastly, analytical listening; honestly, I don't understand this topic. Same with evaluating and making judgments, or maybe I just didn't listen to Sir while he's discussing this topic

.

Overall, I learned many things. My first quarter journey is not boring, and I enjoyed it because of Sir Irlo. The way he teaches us is entertaining; it's not as hard as I thought; despite the struggle, I learned something.

The first thing i learned in the first quater was the three types of information sources, these are the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Sources. In Primary Sources it is the original information that provides direct evidence on a subject. Examples of primary sources are photos, diaries and speeches. Examples of secondary sources are histories, textbooks and commentaries. and the last one is the Tertiary Sources, these sources summarize or give a general view of information from primary and secondary sources.

Examples of Tertiary Sources are dictionaries, bibliographies, and databases. The first thing i learned in the first quater was the three types of information sources, these are the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Sources.

Throughout my English class, I have gained a wide range of skills that extend beyond language mechanics. First, my ability to communicate clearly and effectively has improved significantly, as I’ve learned to organize and present my thoughts with greater coherence. This has helped not only in formal academic settings but also in everyday conversations, where structure and clarity are essential.

In addition to communication, my writing techniques have developed, allowing me to write more compelling and well-organized essays. I now understand the importance of thesis statements, topic sentences, and supporting details, which have made my writing more persuasive and engaging. I also learned to use literary devices and descriptive language to add depth and creativity to my writing.

Analyzing various texts, such as literature and articles, has sharpened my critical thinking and analytical skills. I now approach reading with a more thoughtful perspective, looking beyond the surface to explore deeper meanings, themes, and messages. This skill helps not only in academic reading but also in interpreting media and real-world situations.

Expanding my vocabulary and understanding of grammar has been another key takeaway from the class. With a broader vocabulary, I can express my ideas more precisely, while a solid grasp of grammar ensures my writing is both correct and professional. These skills are crucial not only for academic success but also for future professional communication.

Finally, studying literature from various authors and time periods has given me a deeper appreciation for different cultures, histories, and human experiences. Literature has opened my eyes to new perspectives and broadened my understanding of the world around me.

In conclusion, English class has taught me more than just language rules. It has equipped me with critical skills in communication, writing, and analysis, while also fostering a love for literature and a broader cultural understanding. These lessons will continue to benefit me both academically and personally in the future.

My First Experience in English This 1st quarter it's good because somehow I don't feel pressure and it's good because sir doesn't make me feel the pressure because when he teaches, he has jokes and funny moments, and it seems to indicate from my experience that this is just to enjoy learning don't put pressure on yourself that's why I'm thankful for my experience and sir. I hope I will have more good experiences throughout the quarter.

let's go to what I learned this first quarter in English

what i learned in english

is about primary sources and secondary sources because the primary source is the original information or real information is called primary source and the secondary sources this is the called second hand information because the secondary information one that was created later by someone who did not experience first-hand and secondary sources are generally scholarly books and articles. The next thing I learned in first grading was the news article to how to use and how to put this in sentence, the what, when, who, where, how, why

WHAT is the event all about and the WHEN did the event happen, and WHO is in the event,WHERE is did the event happen, and next is HOW did the person, and the last why is did he.

what I learned about non linear, linear and combination,

the non linear is symbols like map, ulap, signed language and the linear is more word or text, combination is action and text like example comics that's is symbols of combination.

the next topic i learn is about the Diagram

use the flow diagram if your making is step by step and use the venndiagram if you are making

a person or thing has differences and similarities.

what I learned in the topic elements of the story is the setting, setting tells the time and place.

plot, plot is the series of events that make up a story. it is usually made up of five parts or element the exposition, rising action ,climax, falling action and Resolution, the exposition this is the begginning of the story. Rising action the story begins to move, the main character starts to experience the conflict and the events. climax is the most exciting part of the story. falling action rigth after the climax comes the falling action and the last is resolution the ending, the concluding part of the story.

what i learned here in dante's inferno is the divine comedy 3 paradiso, furgatorio, inferno. Dantes is Beatrice's husband. And Virgi doesn't believe in God and the devil, Beatrice was taken by the devil and Dantes helped her husband until he freed her husband.

i also learned what is character the character are the person, animal, things, creature or even beings in the story.

What I don't really understand about the topic is the cause and effect diagram, but I got lost in it, but I'm okay with the other diagram, and I didn't understand it either.

that's all and thank you:)

just the ones I didn't understand.

What I have learned this first quarter?

In my learnings in the first quarter, I have gained knowledge about the three types of information sources: Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Sources. Primary sources serve as original materials that form the basis of research, providing firsthand testimony or direct evidence related to the subject. Examples of Primary sources include original written works such as Poems, Diaries, Court records, Interviews, Surveys, Original research/fieldwork, and Research published in scholarly/academic journals. Secondary Sources encompass materials that describe or analyze primary sources, including Reference Materials like Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Textbooks, and Books and articles that interpret, review, or synthesize original research/fieldwork. Tertiary Sources are utilized for organizing and locating primary and secondary sources. Indexes offer citations that thoroughly identify a work with details such as author, titles of a book, article and/or journal, publisher and publication, including date, volume and issue number, and page numbers. Abstracts provide summaries of the primary or secondary sources. Databases are online indexes that typically include abstracts for each primary or secondary resource, and may also feature a digital copy of the resources.

The second lesson I have learned is all about the News Article, In this lesson we covered the topic of News Articles. I found it challenging to grasp this lesson at first, especially when it came to identifying the key questions: what, where, when, who, and why. However, I was able to comprehend it eventually and successfully complete the activities by developing a personalized technique to delve deeper into the lesson. A news article describes a real-life occurrence, providing essential details such as the individuals involved, location, time, and the sequence of events. It typically includes a headline, byline, placeline, lead, and body paragraphs. Quotations play a crucial role in a news report as they provide statements from key witnesses or integral parts of the story. The key questions to address in a news report are: What happened? Who was involved? Where did it happen? When did it happen? Why did it happen? How did it happen? It's actually very important for us to observe proper punctuation when writing news articles.

The third lesson I learned was about Linear and Non-Linear Text. Linear Text progresses in a sequential path from start to end, representing traditional text that must be read from beginning to end. Examples of linear text include letters, articles, brochures, and speeches. Non-Linear Text presents information graphically and does not require reading from start to finish. Examples of non-linear text types are Bar Graphs, Histograms, Venn Diagrams, Line Graphs, Pie Charts/Graphs, and Flow Charts.

The fourth lesson I have learned is about the plot, setting, and characterization. In our lives, we hear and create stories. At home, we enjoy watching movies or films. Without paying much attention, we may overlook the story's essential elements: plot, setting, and characters. Being able to interpret and evaluate these elements is crucial for understanding the story. In this lesson, we learned how to assess the unity of plot, setting, and characterization in the material we viewed to achieve the writer's purpose. We also evaluated how these elements work together to convey the theme or message of the author. This skill is important because it helps us understand the purpose of the movie or film. The plot is the events or actions that drive your story — it describes the “what” of your tale.

The plot lets the reader know what’s happening, describes the problems your characters are trying to solve, and gives the details on how they attempt to solve them. To keep your reader engaged and interested, your story should include these plot elements: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Let’s explore each one. First is the Exposition it gives the reader the background info they need to jump right into your story’s world. This is often found towards the beginning of your story. Exposition can be given in a variety of ways. Some examples include: Flashbacks, Character dialogue, Letters from the past, Setting or character descriptions, and the Point of View (aka POV, such as the narrator or main character’s thoughts). Second is the Rising Action, The rising action is the moments in your story that lead up to the climax choices your main characters have made and the events happening that are at odds with your characters’ goals. This is where your story builds and your reader begins to invest in your characters. Third is the Climax it is the primary turning point and what your story has been building towards. What are your main characters going to do? Will they succeed or fail? Typical climaxes include victories or defeats. The main goal of the climax is to resolve the conflict, but whether that positively or negatively affects your character is up to you. Or maybe it’s not that simple. Fourth is The Falling Action, Falling action is a great time to tie up any loose ends while also giving your characters a chance to deal with the aftermath of the climax. Fifth is the Resolution, The resolution is also the time to show the next step in your characters’ lives. Do they live happily ever after? Is a new era dawning? Or do they just continue on with their ordinary existence with a new experience under their belt? The resolution of one story can also be the start of another. You can introduce a new conflict or raise more questions for your reader.

The second element of the story is Setting, it is the setting of your story that is both the physical location and point in time in which your plot takes place. For some stories setting is a huge part of the story. The third element of the story is Characters, The characters are the people, animals, beings, or personified objects driving your story. A story can have many characters or just one main character as the focus. Your story’s characters should be compelling. Whether good or evil, you need your reader to invest and care about their journey. So, what kind of characters does your story need? Kind of characters, There are many different kinds of characters, but most stories include these two common types: Protagonist, The protagonist is typically the good guy in your story — the one the reader is rooting for. This main character is super important and central to your plot. Antagonist, The antagonist of your story doesn’t have to be a single person. It can be any character, group, or force that is at odds with your protagonist. The conflict is the big problem of the story. What is your main character trying to overcome? That is the conflict. Conflict comes in many different forms, but will almost always involve an antagonist of sorts.

Our adviser recommended that we should watch the movie Dante's Inferno to deepen our understanding of this topic. After watching the movie, we are supposed to identify the story elements and complete the activity related to the Dante's Inferno movie that our adviser assigned to us. I found this lesson to be very enjoyable because our teacher encourages us to visualize the story as he narrates it, and it's one of the most captivating stories I've ever heard.

I also learned the stages of listening, where stage 1. receiving, stage 2. understanding, stage 3. remembering, stage 4. evaluating, and stage 5. responding. The Receiving Stage, The first stage of the listening process is the receiving stage, which involves hearing and attending. The Understanding Stage, The understanding stage is the stage during which the listener determines the context and meanings of the words that are heard through a process called decoding. The Evaluating Stage, This stage of the listening process is the one during which the listener assesses the information they received, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The Remembering Stage, In the listening process, the remembering stage occurs as the listener categorizes and retains the information he or she has gathered from the speaker for future access. The Responding Stage, The responding stage is the stage of the listening process in which the listener provides verbal and/or nonverbal reactions based on short- or long-term memory.

Moving on to the final topic we covered, I recollect that it is about Evaluating and Making Judgements. This lesson focuses on critical thinking, evaluating information, and forming judgments, which are essential skills in navigating the information age. This includes assessing the credibility of the source, recognizing biases, examining evidence, and evaluating the logic of arguments. I found this topic challenging because I didn't fully grasp it - I was not attentive during those days as I was preparing for an upcoming exam, so I devoted my time to reviewing all the subjects and lessons from the first quarter. First quarter provided an enjoyable experience and also pushed my understanding and abilities in this particular subject. I am eager to further my learning in this subject in the upcoming quarter. The first quarter was both enjoyable and a test of my knowledge and skills in this subject, and I anticipate gaining more knowledge in the subject during the second quarter.

Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

English is Really A Beautiful Languange

English is not the subject I favor because I have always struggled with it. I'm not particularly good at the English language and often make mistakes, especially when it comes to grammar. However, despite this, I still learned many things in my English class.

I learned about the three types of sources—the primary, secondary, and tertiary. Primary sources provide firsthand information, like diaries or interviews, while secondary sources analyze or interpret primary sources, such as textbooks or articles. Tertiary sources, like encyclopedias, compile information from both primary and secondary sources to give a broader overview. I also learned about asking 4 W’s (what, why, when, where) and 1 H (how) to attain information for example, to a news article. I also learned about, a good news story contains accuracy, clarity, objectivity, balance and fairness, attribution, and style.

I also learned about linear and non-linear text. Linear text is read in a straight line, like stories or articles, where you follow from start to finish. Non-linear text, like charts or diagrams (fishbone, flowcharts, venn diagrams) Knowing the difference has helped me understand and read different kinds of texts better. I also learned transcoding linear text to non-linear and vice versa.

After that, I learned the elements of a story. First is the characters. The characters are the persons, animals, things, creatures, or even beings in the story (includes the protagonist and antagonist). Second, the setting. The setting tells the time and place. When and where the story happened. Third, is the plot. The plot is the series if events that make up a story. The plot consists of 5 parts—exposition, which is the beginning of the story, the rising action—the story begins to move. Climax, the exciting part of the story. Falling action, right after the climax is the falling action. And lastly, the resolution.

And then, I learned about the movie called Dante’s Inferno, which is based on the novel by Dante Alighieri. The movie explores the journey of Dante as he travels through the nine circles of Hell, each representing different sins and their punishments. The 9 sins presented in the movie is—Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, Treachery. I also learned about employing analytical listening in problem solving. This have 5 stages which is—receiving stage, understanding stage, remembering stage, evaluating stage, and responding stage.

That’s the lessons I’ve learned from my English class. I’ve had struggles with the last lesson, I didn’t understand well but I managed to do the corresponding exercises.

In conclusion, despite my initial struggles with the English language, I’ve gained valuable knowledge throughout the first quarter. From understanding different types of sources and the elements of storytelling, to exploring Dante’s Inferno and learning about linear and non-linear texts, each lesson has helped me grow. I may still have room for improvement, but these experiences have strengthened my skills and confidence in the subject. I'm excited to continue learning and further enhancing my understanding of English.

The first quarter of grade 10 has come to an end, a new step that I will take, new challenges, but the lessons I've learned from this quarter will be nurtured and it is a bug help for me to continue to a another quarter.

I've learned a lot from english subject on the 1st quarter, when sir Dumo discuss about the variuos sources, I've learned that I shouldn't tell stories, informations and details without a proper sources, everything that's happening in our sorroundings has a backround behind it. it can be news, issues, gossips and so on... it made me realize that us as a student must know the truth in every information with the a legit sources and make a fair judgement about it. honestly, I didn't expect that the lessons in this subject can make me think critically.

The movie entitled Dante's Inferno that is also one of our lessons is very remarkable for me, our teacher explain the deep meanings behind that movie, and left me amazed, it's not really about the movie that makes me amused all the time, but the fact that it made me realize that I still need to improve my analyzing skills and understanding informations.

speaking of analyzing, this is the best lesson that i've encountered during the 1st quarter. in this lesson, it shows that I should not just listen, make assumptions and judge everything that I encounter, instead I should listen carefully, understand it and evaluate the information that I received, I've learned that we should be analytical in our sorroundings by what we hear and see.

this lessons will not be useless unless, we apply it in our lives and plant it in our hearts and minds. honestly, learning and applying throughout this quarter is a fun thing

to do.

Look how fast the time goes. The first quarter we have finally come across. The end of a new beginning. Looking forward to new learnings. An opportunity for growth and new discoveries. A new quarter to test my capabilities.

Out of all the lessons that we've discussed, there's this one lesson that has caught my attention, 'Dante's Inferno'. this speaks up about Dante's journey through Hell. Inferno is divided into nine circles of Hell, each corresponding to different types of sin, with punishments that reflect the nature of the sin itself. And this also talks about how corrupt the church is. So basically, It's just Dante decapitating the depths of hell just to get his beloved back.

Overall, my journey was quite fun during the first quarter, and now I seek further knowledge to test my limits and I'm currently planning to expand my vocabulary this school year. And that's pretty much all of it, thank you for reading.
